The Gloaming finally makes its stateside debut tonight on Starz. The Australian series was filmed in Hobart, Tasmania and originally premiered on the Stan streaming service in January 2020. Now all eight episodes will be broadcast weekly on Starz, beginning this evening, March 21.

If you’re a Starz subscriber, you don’t have to wait until tonight to watch The Gloaming Season 1, Episode 1, “The Dying of the Light,” you can actually tune in right now via the Starz app or channel if you subscribe to Starz through services like Amazon Prime Video, Hulu or YouTube TV.

Instead of airing the season finale of The Luminaries tonight, Starz is opting to give the other series a week off to start their new show starring Ewen Leslie (who also stars in The Luminaries) and Emma Booth.

The Gloaming Season 1, Episode 1 will debut at 9 p.m. EST on Starz after a new episode of American Gods Season 3. You can also catch an encore performance at 10:57 p.m. EST.

What is The Gloaming about?

The Gloaming is a supernatural mystery revolving around the characters Alex O’Connell and Molly McGee. As a kid, Alex witnessed the murder of his close friend Jenny McGinty and immediately left town, leaving his then-girlfriend Molly behind without an explanation.

Fast-forward 20 years, and another brutal murder occur, this time of an unidentified woman. The detectives find a disturbing connection to the decades-old cold case relating to Jenny’s death. Alex is called to partner with Molly on the investigation.
