It’s the end of an era for Mom CBS. The Chuck Lorre sitcom is ending with its current, and now final, eighth season. Sadly, it also marks the first and only season without show star Anna Faris, making one wonder why the actress couldn’t have stuck around for just one final run!

Nonetheless, CBS has released its schedule of season finale dates. Despite the pandemic, the network is mostly sticking to a traditional May wrap-up for its currently airing shows ahead of the summer break.

Per Deadline, the official Mom series finale is currently scheduled to air on Thursday, May 13, from 9-9:30 p.m. EST. Mom is the network’s currently longest-running comedy series, so it truly is the end of an era.

The Mom finale will be sandwiched between the Young Sheldon Season 4 finale at 8 p.m. and the B Positive Season 1 finale afterward at 9:30 p.m.

If the finale date is surprising, you might recall seeing it originally scheduled for a week earlier. CBS pushed the series finales for Mom and NCIS: New Orleans back by one week. It’s not clear why, potentially because the production schedules needed more time.

How many episodes of Mom CBS are left before the finale?

Mom Season 8 will have 18 episodes in total, so there are currently six left to air between now and the finale, meaning there are seven episodes left in total. Mom is currently on a hiatus until April 1, when it will return with new episodes, starting with Season 8, Episode 12, “Tiny Dancer and an Impromptu Picnic.”

After that, Futon Critic reports that Mom CBS will air uninterrupted until it comes to an end on May 13. The season’s final episodes do not yet have titles, apart from Season 8, Episode 3, titled “Klondike-Five and a Secret Family.” But it is expected that CBS will be releasing more news on the final episodes sometime soon.

Janney recently talked about the show’s surprising cancellation, revealing that they were in the process of filming the final few installments, and things were getting emotional on-set!
