A Million Little Things Season 3 explores Eddie’s (David Giuntoli) admission of guilt after weeks of dosing himself with pain medications. Up until now, only Dakota (Anna Akana) was aware of his addiction, but this week, Eddie’s friends and family finally become aware of what’s been going on.

Darcy (Floriana Lima) and Gary (James Rodriguez) continue to mature and grow in their relationship, and I’m so here for it. Their arc has been one I’ve particularly enjoyed over the course of the last season and a half because they are constantly growing and maturing. Every time they hit a roadblock they work through it rather than brush it under the rug.

Regina (Christina Moses) and Rome (Romany Malco) find themselves in a unique, but not all that surprising situation, with Tyrell (Adam Swain) after learning about his home situation. As always, they seek to provide a solution, proving they are stronger than apart.

Last but not least, Maggie (Allison Miller) finally has a conversation with Gary about the awkward podcast episode, which doesn’t go as well as she would have hoped. But luckily, she does have a good conversation with Darcy which certainly helps smooth things over.

With all that to discuss and more, let’s get into our recap of A Million Little Things Season 3, Episode 8!

A Million Little Things Season 3, Episode 8: Eddie comes clean

Though by not any admission of his own, Eddie is forced to come clean about his growing addiction problem. After Regina discovers that her Vicodin is missing and asks Rome if perhaps he might have taken it (she is still scarred from his near suicide attempt), Rome realizes that it could have been Eddie who took them in the first place.

And, of course, it was, but when Rome calls him to ask, Eddie angrily snaps back at him denying that he had anything to do with the missing Vicodin. Having dealt with Eddie’s addiction in the past, Rome knows exactly how he behaves when confronted and guilty.

Rome reaches out to Gary and the two of them head over to talk to Eddie, who is already dealing with another issue. Recent current events in our world have been resulting in a lot of anti-Asian-American attacks, and A Million Little Things Season 3 takes a moment to shed light on this growing and terrifying problem.

It starts off with one student in Theo’s (Tristan Byon) class making an off-hand comment about Theo needing to be the only one that needs to wear a mask (even though the class is virtual) to their neighbor telling Theo to get out of their yard because he’ll bring the “China virus”. Unfortunately for the neighbor, Eddie overhears him and completely loses it. He tells Theo to go inside and then wreaks havoc on the neighbor’s car.

Sadly, Theo witnessed his dad losing it and runs away out of fear, hiding in his room. So when Gary and Rome arrive, Eddie is trying to crawl his way up the stairs to talk to Theo. It’s in that desperate moment that Eddie reveals everything about his recent addiction and how he needs help.

It’s a powerful moment and strings together very important topics that are in dire need of being discussed more often. I appreciate the show not only touched on recent events but showed the gradual downfall of addiction. And as far as Theo goes? Uncle Rome helped him understand why parents sometimes do the things they do, and that it doesn’t have to be a bad thing.

Eddie’s story in this episode ends with him coming clean to Katherine (Grace Park), who is already starting to lean on a lawyer friend of hers, Alan (Terry Chen). Something tells me all this won’t bode well for Eddie and Katherine’s future.

A Million Little Things Season 3, Episode 8: Darcy and Gary grow closer

There’s a part of me that keeps thinking Maggie is going to cause an unintentional rift between Gary and Darcy. Luckily and apparently, it appears that this couple is stronger than that and has only grown closer over time.

After working through the fact that Gary told Maggie about Darcy’s PTSD, the both of them have been on solid ground. In fact, Darcy explained exactly what happened that led her to have PTSD in the first place. And as it turns out, the therapist that Maggie had recommended to Gary for Darcy has been working out wonderfully.

Realizing that’s the case, Darcy shows up to thank Maggie for the referral, but also to ask her about a veterans PTSD retreat for females. It’s something the therapist recommended to Darcy, and Maggie agrees it would be good for her, and offers her support. See, things can work out.

Unfortunately, the great conversation goes a bit awkward when Jamie (Chris Greer) brings up the podcast, which Darcy had no idea about. We don’t see it happen on screen, but Darcy definitely listens to it, and even makes a joke out of it to Gary later. Yay! Everything’s still okay!

A Million Little Things Season 3, Episode 8: Regina and Rome lend a hand

Time and time again we’ve seen how loving and caring Regina and Rome are. They’re always willing to go above and beyond for everyone, so it comes as no surprise when they extend that same love and courtesy to Tyrell.

Rome was already suspicious that Tyrell’s living conditions weren’t ideal, but in this week’s episode, they finally learn that Child Protection Services has been looking for him ever since ICE came and took his mother.

It’s a scary situation, and so Regina decides to bring Tyrell home until they can figure something out. Of course, Rome is on board with this idea, and I didn’t expect anything but support from him anyway. My theory is that they will decide to either temporarily adopt him or bring him on as a foster kid until things get sorted out with his mother.

They were ready to adopt after all, but since that didn’t work out, maybe this is what was always supposed to happen! Here’s to hoping they get their happy ending after all.
