When does HBO’s In Treatment reboot premiere?
By Mads Lennon
HBO’s In Treatment reboot finally has a premiere date! It’s not until late May but at least the cabler was nice enough to release an official teaser trailer for us to ponder until then!
The In Treatment reboot is set for a 24-episode fourth season starring Emmy Award-winner Uzo Aduba as the lead therapist, Dr. Brooke Taylor. In Treatment will return for a fourth season on Sunday, May 23 with two back-to-back episodes from 9:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT.
Per the official press release, the season will continue airing two back-to-back episodes throughout the duration of the season. And those who don’t like watching linearly will be able to stream the series via HBO Max after it airs on HBO.
What is the In Treatment reboot about?
The reimagined In Treatment Season 4 will be set in present-day Los Angeles and focus on a “diverse trio of patients in session with Brooke to help navigate a variety of modern concerns. Issues such as the global pandemic and recent major social and cultural shifts are a backdrop to the work Brooke will undertake – all while she deals with complications in her own personal life.”
Apart from Aduba, the series also stars Anthony Ramos, Liza Colón-Zayas, John Benjamin Hickey, Quintessa Swindell and Joel Kinnaman.
The new version of In Treatment looks like it’s going to differ from the first in a few ways. For starters, the first iteration aired a new episode each day of the week to make it feel more like you were witnessing a real therapy session. Also, based on the trailer, it looks like we’ll be seeing more of these people’s lives outside of the therapy office, whereas the first season was mostly confined in that one space.
Regardless, the teaser has definitely made me excited for the show and I wouldn’t be surprised if Aduba got some award buzz from her work!
