Fear The Walking Dead Season 6 is not holding back, folks, and this week’s episode, “Things Left To Do,” is the perfect example of that. We’re two episodes into the back half of the fourth season, and there has already been immense plot development and two, yes two, character deaths.

Before I get into the nitty-gritty details, if you have not caught up with all the episodes so far, please be mindful of spoilers ahead. And trust me when I say, there are a lot of things that went down this week, so be sure not to ruin it for yourself!

Last week, we said goodbye to John Dorie (Garret Dillahunt), which was one of the more painful character deaths we’ve had in the franchise in a while. It wasn’t expected, but it sets up a lot of what goes down in this week’s episode of Fear The Walking Dead Season 6.

Before I get into this week’s recap, I just want to say that I am a huge Jenna Elfman fan, and she literally kills it as June this week. Her delivery, her performance, and her tenacity from this week are something we need to see more of. Please give her more episodes like this!

In any case, let’s talk about this week’s episode and break down all the major events that took place.

Fear The Walking Dead Season 6, Episode 9: Ginny’s revelation

Ginny (Colby Minifie) is in a lot of hot water this week, and it’s deservedly so. She’s made a lot of people’s life a living hell and tortured one too many people. There are many out there hoping to take her down, but as always, Morgan (Lennie James) tries to be the moral compass of the group.

In this case, I’m not sure it’s easy to agree with him, but I appreciate the efforts he’s trying to make, and I love the writing that has been done for his character. At least he’s not the guy he used to be, who refused to partake in the reality of the apocalypse.

Morgan manages to get everyone close to Ginny to turn on her when he reveals that it was Dakota (Zoe Colletti) who killed Cameron but Ginny had framed Janice for the murder. It’s something she’s always done to protect Dakota, who, by the way, is not her sister but Ginny’s daughter. I mean, I think we all saw that coming, so it wasn’t as much of a shocker as they probably intended.

As pandemonium breaks out during the shootout (and that awesome Victor (Colman Domingo) twist), Hill (Craig Nigh) runs off with Daniel (Ruben Blades) and Grace (Karen David) while Morgan runs away with Ginny. He has other plans for her, but she has something even more important to do–tell Dakota that she’s her mom before she bleeds out.

Fear The Walking Dead Season 6, Episode 9: Ginny and Dakota

Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) and everyone else at the compound are not happy to see that Morgan has brought Ginny with him. She has been the bane of their existence, and for Morgan to just bring her along doesn’t seem fair or right.

While Morgan tries to deal with the folks inside the compound, he’s soon faced with a problem outside the compound when Victor shows up with his posse. Sherry (Christine Evangelista) is with him too and is livid that Morgan is taking it upon himself to do whatever he wants.

The “whatever he wants” portion of Morgan’s thought process involves making a deal with Ginny in which she’ll have Hill free Daniel and Grace in exchange for her life and a safe environment for Dakota. In the end, Morgan can’t get himself to chop her head off, and I don’t blame him.

Instead of the whole “kill me” thing, Morgan has Ginny talk to Dakota about all the that she has lied about, including the fact that she’s her mother, not her sister. Dakota is shocked to learn the truth and is conflicted with a lot of emotions, especially since she harbors so much hate for Ginny.

Fear The Walking Dead Season 6, Episode 9: The June plot twist

Everyone eventually scatters into the wind after Morgan’s handling of the Ginny situation, including Sherry, who doesn’t want to stay back with Dwight (Austin Amelio). She still has a goal to achieve, and staying with Dwight won’t get her there.

And then there’s Victor, who now wants Alicia to join his cause in taking down the army that is still out there courtesy of Ginny. Interesting that he first wanted her to leave him alone, and now he’s asking her to rejoin. Make up your mind, dude!

There is a lot that happens in this episode, but I was so happy to see Morgan reunite with Grace. They are such a sweet couple, and it made me so happy to see Morgan have a smile on his face. At least for now!

The moment of giddiness is fleeting, however, after June walks into the compound, and decides to take matters into her own hands. Morgan gives Ginny an ultimatum and says that he’ll let her go if she and Dakota just disappear into the wind and are never seen again.

Where he messes up is when he decides to leave June behind with Ginny while he and Alicia go to get Dakota. June confronts Ginny and tells her that she understand the need to protect one’s child, but her daughter never killed someone just for the hell of it, unlike Dakota.

Dakota took John’s life, and now that death must be avenged and avenged it is when June shoots Ginny right in the head, taking her life. She places John’s hat on her head and walks away from the compound without looking back even once. I want to say that I admired how badass she was at that moment, but it also comes with a huge consequence which will surely play out in the weeks to come. But wow, we have never seen this side of June, and I must say, I’m so here for it.
