Master of None Season 3 to feature a surprising twist

Master of None, the acclaimed comedy-drama series created by Aziz Ansari is returning soon for another season. However, despite Ansari starring in the first two seasons, Master of None Season 3 will reportedly lessen the actor’s on-screen presence, reports Variety.

Likely the reasoning behind this decision is related to the sexual assault allegation against Ansari that occurred over three years ago. Instead of focusing on Dev Shah, Variety reports that the new season will instead turn the spotlight on Lena Waithe’s character Denise, although Netflix has declined to comment on the report as of yet.

After a four-year hiatus, it makes sense that the series would undergo some retooling, especially in light of the controversy surrounding Ansari.

The publication also reported that The End of the F***ing World star Naomi Ackie would be joining the third season.

Focusing on Denise makes sense since Waithe and Ansari previously won an Emmy Award for outstanding comedy writing for the Season 2 episode “Thanksgiving,’ Which focused on Denise’s family struggles.

When is Master of None Season 3 releasing?

Master of None Season 3 is coming out on Netflix in May, according to the Netflix Queue account which recently shared all the new additions arriving on the streaming service next month.

Right now, the new season is simply listed under the “Coming Soon” alongside Halston and Ragnarok Season 2 without an official release date attached. We should get a concrete date within the next few weeks.

It’ll be interesting to see what kind of numbers Master of None rakes in after being off the air for so long. There is a good chance that the third season could also be the show’s last.
