Fear The Walking Dead Season 6, Episode 10 recap: Handle with Care
By Ariba Bhuvad
Fear The Walking Dead Season 6 felt nostalgic during this week’s episode, “Handle with Care,” as it’s the first time in a long time we’ve seen the original group together again. Of course, it’s not entirely as it once used to be, and quite a few people are missing, but we’ll take what we can get.
This week everyone comes back together, more or less, to take on the mystery group that has been spray-painting all over the place. They’re clearly a threat, and it will take everyone coming together to face whatever or whoever is out there.
At the core of this episode is Daniel Salazar (Ruben Blades), who seems to be missing one crucial thing–his memory. It’s not all gone, but some moments are certainly missing. Given his history, it’s tough to believe if he’s telling the truth.
Victor (Colman Domingo), Dwight (Austin Amelio), Sarah (Mo Collins), Sherry (Christine Evangelista), along with others, come together while Morgan (Lennie James) ventured out in search of a baby monitor for Grace (Karen David).
While Morgan is out, things take a turn within the community, and all eyes are on Daniel. Can they trust him? Can he trust himself? Let’s talk about that and much more in this week’s recap of Fear The Walking Dead Season 6.
Fear The Walking Dead Season 6, Episode 10: Old suspicions arise
As Morgan heads out searching for a monitor, Strand, Sherry, and Sarah’s groups come together to make sense of the threat. They don’t all get along, but they have one common mission, and that’s enough to overcome the differences.
But as they try and come to a consensus, an explosion goes off near the edge of the community. Daniel realizes that the weapons he took away earlier are all gone, so it means a traitor is lurking around them.
Daniel’s first inclination is to accuse Strand, and while there is no proof, I don’t blame him for doing so. Strand kept his gun when everyone else handed theirs over, and Daniel figures that out when he lets a bunch of walkers in, and Strand pulls out his gun.
Almost immediately, Daniel locks Strand up and threatens to shoot him right in the face as once Strand did to him. It’s some of the best acting we’ve seen on the show from both of them, and I was so here for every moment of it.
Before Daniel is actually able to shoot Strand, Morgan shows up in the nick of time.
Fear The Walking Dead Season 6, Episode 10: Something doesn’t make sense
Things get a bit strange from this point on as we learn that Daniel had asked Charlie (Alexa Nisenson) and Grace to leave and hide out in a cabin so they could keep safe. But when Morgan heads there, he doesn’t find either of them there.
Instead of being where they were supposed to be, they’re walking around the caverns because apparently, Daniel told them to go there. And they have proof! He had given them a map where he had circled the caverns. And then the guns were found in Daniel’s living quarters.
The strange thing is that Daniel doesn’t remember taking them or telling the girls to go to the caverns. Is he lying? Or does he really not remember?
We’ve seen the entire episode from Daniel’s point of view, and by the time the episode ends, we realize he’s been talking to June this entire time. She is trying to figure out if he has genuinely forgotten things or pretending and runs a series of tests to see if he remembers the things he told her earlier (the entire story we saw play out in the episode).
She has him draw a clock and recall his memory, and he’s able to do both with no issues. This rules out any neurological issues, which leads June to believe it could be psychological. It is possible that this all due to old age or multiple wounds he’s sustained to the head over the years, but whatever it is, June intends to find out.
Fear The Walking Dead Season 6, Episode 10: A new place to call home, perhaps
Upon learning about this, Daniel decides he doesn’t want to stick around Morgan’s settlement. He’s afraid that whatever is going on in his mind will cause him to wreak havoc the last time he lost his mind. This was a throwback to Season 2 when he burned down Celia’s place while he was having hallucinations of his wife.
He intends to go back to the warehouse, but instead, Strand asks him to come back to Lawton with him. There is still a bit of uncertainty behind Strand’s intentions, but nonetheless, Morgan allows Daniel to head off into the sunset with Strand.
Time will tell if this is a wise decision or not–but we’ll be here for it!
Wasn’t it nice to see everyone together again?!
