2. Gangs of London

Gangs of London is much different tonally than the other entries on this best new shows you’re not watching list. It’s an intense, British action crime drama about rival gangs and a criminal organization in the London underground scene.

While the show first aired on Sky Atlantic last year, it’s currently available in full on AMC+ and also being aired linearly on the AMC network. The series was created by Gareth Evans and is just as violent and dark as you would expect from the person who made The Raid films. AMC will co-produce the second season with Sky Atlantic, so you can catch up without worrying about cliffhangers!

The first season revolves around the sudden murder of Finn Wallace, head of the most powerful criminal in London and kingpin of the Wallace crime family. With Finn dead, the weight of the family’s legacy falls on his son Sean’s shoulders.

1. Cruel Summer

This one might be a stretch, not because it’s not new, (it’s still airing its first season!) but because it actually broke some records at Freeform for becoming the network’s biggest multi-platform debut ever! That said, Freeform is a lesser-known network, sort of like The CW, where ratings are rarely ever as high as channels like NBC, ABC or CBS (and those are already dwindling due to streaming wars). Therefore, there is a good chance that a lot of people are still overlooking this fantastic, sizzling new summer thriller.

Like the title suggests, Cruel Summer is a captivating and addictive psychological thriller that fits in perfectly among these other best new shows. The story revolves around the kidnapping of a popular teen girl named Kate Wallis (Olivia Holt) and the resounding fallout across three years, 1993, 1994 and 1995.

At the center of the kidnapping case is a former outcast-turned-queen-bee, Jeanette Turner (Chiara Aurelia), who might have more to do with Kate’s disappearance than anyone would like to believe. You can catch up with the season right now on Hulu.
