Girls5eva Season 1, Episode 4 recap: Carma

Girls5eva Season 1, Episode 4 is a big episode for Summer because it’s finally time for Kev’s monthly weekend home from Tampa. She’s so pumped for the weekend and planned BBQ that she invites Gloria to join her at the hairstylists. Gloria gets her hair redone to channel her inner pop singer, while Summer skips the usual horse hair extensions in favor of real human hair, as a treat.

But while they’re getting their hair done, Gloria can’t help but bring up some of her doubts regarding Kev and Summer’s strange relationship. Isn’t it weird that there is so much distance between them? And doesn’t Summer realize they were set up by their PR team? Maybe it wasn’t supposed to last this long.

Summer does her best to blow off all of Gloria’s worries, but there is one thing she can’t ignore. Her credit card gets declined. Gloria steps in to pay their bill, but she recommends that Summer call the company and find out what Kev’s been buying since they share a joint account. Summer finds out Kev has bought over 200 condoms, hotel rooms and countless other items with their money.

Horrified and assuming he’s cheating on her, Summer lashes out by wrecking Kev’s rev and carving “Carma” into the side of the car. When he does get home, he’s shocked by the incident but believes Summer when she blames it on someone else. Plus, he claims the mysterious charges were a case of identity theft.

At the barbecue, Summer blames Gloria for the mess she’s found herself in, even though Gloria advises her to come clean and tell Kev the truth. She doesn’t plan to until the police find a hair on the car and link it back to some random woman (the owner of Summer’s hair extensions). They plan to arrest her, so Summer is forced to come clean, sort of. She ends up blaming the car on their daughter Stevia lashing out because she doesn’t get to spend enough time with her dad. Kev ultimately agrees to come home at least two weekends a month instead of just one.

Girls5eva Season 1, Episode 4 recap: Dawn tries the Dolly Parton method to write a song.

Tasked with writing Girls5eva new hit song, Dawn tries to channel Dolly Parton by fasting for a day to write a hit. She remembers reading that Dolly fasted and then wrote her two biggest songs in the same day.

After not eating, she starts to hallucinate her own version of Dolly, who is played (amazingly) by Tina Fey herself. The fake Dolly helps Dawn embrace all of her fears until she writes a terrible song about corpse death and all kinds of weird random things and performs it at the barbecue. It’s definitely not a hit. But as fake Dolly tells Dawn, the real Dolly Parton had to write 5,000 songs before she got a hit. At least now she only has 4,999 more to go!

Girls5eva Season 1, Episode 4 recap: Wickie tries dating a younger man.

Wickie starts dating a younger guy called Cray in this week’s episode, which really freaks Nick out. He thinks it has disrupted the way of the universe to have an older woman dating a younger man, especially since, so far, their relationship is going well and Crazy doesn’t seem tired of Wickie at all.

But then it’s revealed that Cray is actually one half of a popular TikTok duo, a pair of identical twins who were trying the 48 in 48 challenge. The goal was to date someone 48-years-old and see if they could trick them into believing they were dating one younger guy when in reality they were twins who kept switching places across two days. Wickie was so narcissistic she never noticed she was with two different people!
