6. The Mick

The Mick is one of the shows on this list of canceled Fox shows that had a truly shocking cancellation. The series had sky-high ratings when it first premieres, quickly garnered acclaim from critics and fans, and Fox was promoting it all over the place. It seemed like the network was happy with the show and intended to keep going for a while.

The creators were so sure the series would get renewed for a third season to end the second season with a big cliffhanger. And then suddenly, seemingly out of nowhere, Fox pulled the plug on the whole thing. Yes, the show dived ratings during its second season, but it was hardly the lowest-rated show on the air at the time. This one still mystifies me.

5. Wayward Pines

Channeling Twin Peaks, Wayward Pines was an entertaining mystery sci-fi series based on the book series by Blake Crouch. Set in a creepy small town, Wayward Pines had the vibes of stuff like Stranger Things. It’s not surprising that it captivated many with its creepy premise, considering M. Night Shymalan was an executive producer and directed the pilot.

The first season focused on Ethan Burke (Matt Dillon), a U.S. Secret Service agent investigating the disappearance of his fellow agents in a strange town called Wayward Pines. The show went on for two seasons before getting axed far before any real resolution could happen.
