Run the World is a new American comedy television series centering on a group of Black women living in Harlem. Reviews have favorably compared the series to Sex and the City, although Run the World Season 1 offers a fresh, diverse and revitalized take on the HBO show.

The eight-episode half-hour series officially makes its debut on Starz tomorrow night. Starring Amber Stevens West, Andrea Bordeaux, Bresha Webb, Corbin Reid, Tosin Morohunfola and Stephen Bishop, Run the World is about a group of fiercely loyal best friends who live, work and play in Harlem. It is an “unapologetically female show about enviable friendship” and what it means to survive and thrive together.

Leigh Davenport created and executive produces the series while Yvette Lee Bowser serves as the showrunner.

When does Run the World Season 1, Episode 1 release?

Run the World premieres tomorrow night, May 16, at 8:30 p.m. EST on Starz. It will follow a new episode of The Girlfriend Experience. Episodes will run for approximately 30 minutes and there will be eight episodes in total for the first season. Starz also usually releases new episodes at 12:01 a.m. via their app so you should be able to watch the episode early that way.

You can watch the Run the World premiere on cable television if you are subscribed to Starz, or you can watch via live stream television services like YouTube TV, Hulu, Sling TV and more. The episode will also be available to purchase from digital retailers like iTunes and Amazon Prime Video.

Starz has released an official trailer for the series, which you can watch above. Otherwise, the first episode of the series will introduce us to the main characters, including Ella McFair, a failed novelist preparing to start her first day at a new job.
