The White Lotus teaser shows lots of ‘rich white f–ked up people’
By Mads Lennon
HBO released the first teaser for the upcoming dark comedy The White Lotus, created and written by Enlightened alum Mike White. If you enjoyed Enlightened, it seems like The White Lotus promises more of that dark-yet-hilarious vibe and it comes equipped with a stacked cast like Connie Britton and Jennifer Coolidge at the helm.
The White Lotus is a social satire series that follows a bunch of “rich white f–ked up people,” according to several characters throughout the trailer. Amid the “deranged” and cuckoo guests staying at this Hawaiian resort is a staff just doing their best to get through the day, even with a seemingly endless stream of strange requests.
The teaser shows us snippets of several characters, including staff leader Armond (Murray Bartlett), who advises his staff to treat these people “like sensitive children,” especially the VIPs.
Coolidge plays a kooky resident that brought her mother’s ashes with her to the resort to spread them in the ocean. She immediately charters a boat with plenty of alcohol, and cheese, lots of cheese. Then there are newlyweds Shane and Rachel who tried to book the honeymoon suite and are dismayed to find there is no record of that.
Plus, we have a family labeled “crazy” by some of the other guests consisting of Britton, Steve Zahn, Sydney Sweeney and Fred Hechinger.

When does The White Lotus premiere?
The new social satire will premiere on July 11, only on HBO. There are just six episodes in total for the first season, so it should wrap sometime in August not long after it debuts. Billed as a limited series, it looks like the series is intended to just be one season, although that could always change in the future depending on how it performs.
