Locke & Key Season 2: Premiere date and new photos released

Are you ready for more mysteries, demonic entities, and magical keys? Locke and Key Season 2, the Netflix YA horror, will be arriving sooner than expected with more mayhem.

According to a TVLine report, the series will return to streaming in October of 2021. An exact date has yet to be announced.

Locke and Key is based on the comic book series by Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez. The Netflix series is the second attempt at bringing the story to live-action. A pilot for Locke and Key was shot in 2010 but subsequently abandoned.

The series got a new lease on life from Hulu in 2018 before Netflix brought the show to life in 2019. Despite a slow start, the first season gained momentum and won over fans. It has been a long wait for Locke and Key Season 2, but fans will be delighted to know that the wait will soon be over.

Locke and Key Season 2: What is it About?

Locke and Key stars Connor Jessup as Tyler, Emilia Jones as Kinsey, Jackson Robert Scott as Bode, as well as Darby Stanchfield as Nina, who make up the Locke family. According to the TVLine report, Aaron Ashmore, who played the siblings’ uncle Duncan Locke, has been promoted to series regular.

Laysla De Oliveira portrayed primary antagonist Dodge in the opening season, and will likely be joined by Griffin Gluck’s Gabe and Hallea Jones’ Eden for Locke and Key Season 2.

Locke & Key Season 2’s arrival was announced on the series’ official Twitter page along with preview images for the upcoming season.

We can surmise from the images that Gabe and Eden, who had been possessed by demons at the end of Season 1, will team up to terrorize the Locke family and steal more keys. There is no sign of Dodge, though we know that Dodge did escape the Black Door.

One of the images also shows Duncan with a magical key. In the first season, Duncan’s memories of magic had been removed. This is a crucial storyline in the comic books, so we can expect Duncan to play a more significant role in the story in Locke & Key Season 2.

It also appears that Locke matriarch Nina has found a new friend. She had struggled with the death of her husband in Season 1 but was far more settled by the end of the opening season. Whether she retains her calm state in the follow-up remains to be seen.

The story, sets, and characters of Locke and Key were impressive and fans will be excited to revisit it all in October. What magical horrors await the Locke family? And will they make it past the demons this time?
