Will Rick Grimes return to The Walking Dead during Season 11?

It has been a while since Rick Grimes was last seen on The Walking Dead. His absence on the show has had a significant impact on nearly every character as he remained the key leader throughout the series.

While some characters have accepted that he probably died others refused to stop looking with the hopes he would be found. Unfortunately for both parties, they may never know what becomes of Rick as he was rescued by Anne (previously Jadis) by what many believe to be the CRM.

Even though The Walking Dead: World Beyond has a deeper focus on the CRM, neither Rick nor Jadis has been seen or referenced on the show. Now that The Walking Dead‘s final season is drawing near, will Rick Grimes make one final appearance?

Unfortunately, that remains a mystery.  Back in April, CBR chatted with Rick Grimes actor Andrew Lincoln, who said, to his knowledge, no Season 11 scenes involving Grimes had been written.

“But I would never say never to that because everybody that’s still doing the TV show are dear friends. And it’s an extraordinary feat that they’re still going and making this beautiful and ground-breaking show that still resonates with the world,” said Lincoln.

Rick Grimes’ return to The Walking Dead during the final season would be a great way to wrap up the series.

In the same article, Lincoln admitted that he signed for more than one film, which means the Rick Grimes films are still a go. But what direction will those films take?

While it can be argued that because Rick Grimes will be in those films that there is no need for him to appear in Season 11 that doesn’t mean it wouldn’t be greatly appreciated and the perfect way to wrap up the series.

How amazing would it be for Rick to finally learn that he had a son with Michonne? How satisfying would it be for Rick to reunite with Daryl who has been endlessly searching for him? How interesting would it be for Rick to see how far his friends and family have come, including Negan?

Realistically The Walking Dead doesn’t always have happy endings but when it does it is refreshing and treasured.
