Girls5eva is returning for a second season at Peacock

The girls are back for another season! On Monday, Peacock TV officially confirmed that they had renewed Tina Fey-produced comedy Girls5eva for another season!
In a comment, Lisa Katz, President of Scripted Content at NBCUniversal Television and Streaming said, “We are so excited to continue Girls5eva alongside this incredibly talented group of cast and producers. It was hard to miss the immediate fandom that was born after the launch of this series. This aspirational comeback story is filled with heart and friendship, perfectly blended with catchy songs and humor, and delivered by an exceptionally versatile cast. We look forward to following this group’s journey as they continue to hit just the right notes.”
The first season of Girls5eva premiered this past May and was an immediate hit with critics and fans. The show features lots of infectious songs and lovable characters as it focuses on a one-hit wonder girl group that took off in the ’90s only to fizzle out quickly thereafter.
Fast-forward 20 years later, and the girls decide to reunite and give their dreams of creating a famous and successful girl group another chance. The series stars Sara Bareilles, Paula Pell, Busy Philipps and Renée Elise Goldsberry. Apart from Tina Fey, the series is also executive produced by creator Emmy Award winner Meredith Scardino, Jeff Richmond, Robert Carlock, David Miner and Eric Gurian.
The first eight episodes of the show are now available to stream on Peacock and you can even purchase the nine-track soundtrack from the series right now.
When will Girls5eva Season 2 premiere on Peacock TV?
The second season of the series will probably premiere around the same time as the first season next year. Girls5eva is a nice, lighthearted, and hilarious comedy so it works well for a late spring-early summer debut. I imagine that the show is going to stay on a similar schedule especially now that the pandemic is finally starting to get under control. So long as there are no scheduling conflicts, then things should stay on a relatively normal television production schedule.
