It’s been a bit of a sad week for television. First with NBC canceling so many fan-favorite shows such as Manifest and now with one of the most beloved and fan-favorite sitcoms of the past decade, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, closing the curtains on the filming for its final episode this week.

The police-procedural comedy follows the lives of the detectives from the 99th Precinct of the New York Police Department in Brooklyn has had a wonderful as well as quite a miraculous run these past few years.

The Andy Samberg-led comedy was canceled after a stellar fifth season by Fox in 2018 which had ended on a massive cliffhanger but the show was picked up by NBC for a sixth season after the fans of the show took to Twitter. Even Mark Hamill urged the show to be saved from cancellation.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine has also been a critical darling ever since the start of the series with Andrew Braugher and Andy Samberg being nominated for the Golden Globes and Emmys for its freshman season. Andy Samberg even went on to win the Globes for Best Leading Actor in TV Series (Comedy or Musical) with his portrayal as Jake Peralta.

With all the love the show has gotten from its fans, it has managed to stick around even when the odds were not in its favor sometimes and as all good things must come to an end, we will be getting one last chance to say goodbye to our favorite characters.

The cast and crew of Brooklyn Nine-Nine took to their social media to express their gratitude in this emotional moment

The series’ eighth and final run will be a shortened season with 10 episodes and will premiere on August 12. Melissa Fumero shared a picture of her lot badge and reminisced the first season while expressing her gratitude in an emotional post.

Meanwhile, Joe Lo Truglio shared a video of the wrap in a heartfelt Instagram post.

The show’s creator Dan Goor also thanked the cast and crew for changing his life.
