Comedic heavyweights Steve Martin and Martin Short are back with a new project, this time a cozy-looking Upper West Side comedy that adds a new party to their trio in the form of Selena Gomez. Gomez has recently said she’s looking to take on more acting projects, and Only Murders In The Building is the first of her upcoming projects.

On Tuesday, Hulu released the first trailer for the new comedy, which is set to release late this summer. While the trailer doesn’t look entirely revolutionary, it’s enticing enough that I’m looking forward to watching the show.

Martin, Short, and Gomez will play three strangers who all happen to live in the same building and share an obsession with true crime. Considering how much true crime has taken over the zeitgeist, it sounds fitting.

The trio comes together when they discover a grisly death in their building. While we don’t know the cause of death, our three main characters believe foul play is afoot and unite to solve the crime.

But as the trailer implies, it might not be their unknown neighbors they need to worry about. What if a murderer is lurking much closer to home? How well do you really know anyone, after all?

What else do we know about Only Murders In The Building?

Apart from the three leads, also expect to see Amy Ryan in a series regular role. Nathan Lane is also listed as recurring. The series is also billed as having a 10-episode first season, per IMDb, and I would guess that each episode will have a 25-30 minute runtime.

As for the release date, Hulu is releasing the series on August 31, I’m assuming all ten episodes are launching at once, but sometimes Hulu does stagger its episodes on a weekly schedule.
