If you’re a fan of animation and Broadway musicals, then Central Park Season 2 should feel like finding your best friend and giving them a huge hug. The award-winning, zany, and downright weird (in a good way!) Apple TV+ series has returned and based on the eight episodes made available for review. Fans are in for tons of joy, earworms, and even some genuine tenderness.

Plus, for anyone who hasn’t been able to get enough of Kathryn Hahn lately or has wanted to hear her sing more since getting “Agatha All Along” stuck in your head (and was that board game in the premiere a WandaVision reference or just a coincidence?), then Central Park is the perfect cure! Hahn stars as Paige, wife of Owen Tillerman and mother to Molly and Cole. The Tillerman family is at the center of this adorable series that grows and charms viewers episode after episode.

And Hahn is surrounded by other talented actors, including Stanley Tucci, Daveed Diggs, Josh Gad, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Tituss Burgess, and Leslie Odom Jr.

As The AV Club wrote in their review, “the nuanced storytelling, intelligent humor, and evolving animation creativity solidify its place as one of Apple TV+’s successful original series.”

Central Park Season 2 branches out and embraces its weirdness in a delightful way

Like other animated series that have come about in recent years, Central Park Season 2 branches out with more experimental episodes and animation. I always appreciate when animated shows take advantage of their form and tell stories or explore characterization in unique, inventive ways.

While Central Park already came out of the gate with an impressive and confident first season, Central Park Season 2 showcases the talent of these writers, performers, and animators by allowing the show to evolve and carve out its own special niche in Apple TV+’s increasingly robust line-up of exciting and innovative television shows.

For anyone who has enjoyed the lighthearted offerings of Ted Lasso or Bob’s Burgers, Central Park is the perfect television show to add to your watchlist. Today, the series returned with three brand new episodes. Expect one episode to follow weekly on Fridays through episode eight.

Later this year, Central Park will return with eight more episodes to finish off a 16-episode second season. And Apple has smartly already renewed the series for a third season. If Central Park continues to grow and deliver heartwarming comedy alongside catchy tunes, it could be a serious animated staple for the streaming service for years to come.
