Why Women Kill Season 2 puts Alma (Allison Tolman) in a completely different light as she turns from timid to courageous–and a bit dangerous. We’re six episodes into the second season, and so far, the series has been living up to the hype of the freshman series. This week, in particular, is an intriguing episode to watch because we see Alma’s personality shift to the dark side. When this season began, Alma was insecure, shy, and didn’t see the worth in herself. But ever since she started wearing, or rather, stealing her neighbor’s expensive clothes, Alma has newfound confidence within her.

Couple that with the fact that Rita (Lana Parrilla) has been doing her best to humiliate Alma as much as possible, Alma is now on a mission. When she learned that Bertram (Nick Frost) liked to “help” people end their suffering, she was taken aback at the fact that her husband was actually murdering people.

She was against it and livid, that is until it suddenly suited her in her quest for revenge against Alma. Unfortunately for her, Bertram comes home with his mind set on ending his extracurricular activities. But with some convincing, Alma gets him to agree, and off they go into the darkness of the night to send Carlo (Daniel Zacapa) off into a deep, permanent sleep.

Do they succeed? Read on below to see what went down during this week’s episode of Why Women Kill Season 2–and be sure to tell us what you thought in the comments below!

Why Women Kill Season 2, Episode 6 recap: A deadly plan

Bertram and Alma head over to Rita’s home in the middle of the night, with a plan to sneak into the house. Alma is to wait in the car and be the lookout while Bertram goes into the house to do his thing.

Luckily for him, Rita and her houseworker, Isabel (Eileen Galindo) have passed out from a night of drinking and plotting their next move. But that is the least of his concerns, as we soon come to find out. When Bertram makes his way into Carlo’s room, he’s sleeping, so Bertram quickly prepares the syringe.

Much to his surprise, Carlo eventually wakes up and is surprised to see Bertram in the room. Of course, he can’t scream or call for help, but it’s clear he’s confused as to why Bertram is talking about ending his pain.

My heart goes out to Bertram here because Alma appealed to his innate desire to help people, which he genuinely believed he was doing. He eventually does the deed, just as Alma shows up in the room. But what is she doing inside the house when she said she’d stay put?

Why Women Kill Season 2, Episode 6 recap: Alma’s ulterior motives

While Bertram is putting Carlo into a permanent sleep, we finally learn the reasoning behind Alma’s plan. My assumption was that she wanted to kill Alma while she had Bertram taking care of Carlo, but as it turns out, this was not her plan at all.

She sneaks into the house after Bertram goes in because she wants to plant something in Rita’s purse to frame her for Carlo’s murder. Alma doesn’t just want Rita to be humiliated, she wants her to suffer immensely. Is it safe to say that the old Alma is actually gone? I would say so.

She seems far gone at this point, and if framing someone for murder isn’t it, I’m not sure what is. But after she does what she needs to, Alma tries to sneak out of the house only to learn that there are other people arriving outside.

Why Women Kill Season 2, Episode 6 recap: Scooter and Catherine

Rita’s plan has been to make sure she doesn’t lose hold of Carlo’s wealth, but ever since his daughter Catherine (Veronica Falcón) has come into the picture, things have gotten more difficult. Being the heartless woman she is, Rita asks her secret lover Scooter (Matthew Daddario) to hook up with Catherine so she can have her P.I. take pictures of her in the act. With those pictures, she can ensure that Catherine gets out of her life forever.

Catherine and Scooter already went on one date, and it went pretty convincingly, but in this week’s episode, Scooter’s goal was to get Catherine into bed with him. It proves rather difficult at first but when he manages to get her back to Carlo’s house, it all goes down.

He uses his wit and charm to get her to sleep with him, and it works seamlessly. But there is a big part of me that thinks Scooter is actually into this. And I think he’s finally realizing that Rita does not have his best interests at heart, especially after hearing what Catherine thinks about her.

Unfortunately for Catherine and Scooter, Vern the P.I. (Jordane Christie) is outside taking pictures of them doing the deed.

Why Women Kill Season 2, Episode 6 recap: Rita’s intentions

Around the same time Bertram and Alma were heading over to her house, Rita and Isabel were having a chat about what to do with Carlo. Isabel suggested they just kill him (how ironic, right?), and it appeared that it is something they’ve done before. They’ve gotten away with it in the past, so Isabel thinks they can pull it off again.

Surprisingly, Rita does not want to go down that road again. She’s spent so much time getting to where she is with Carlo that she’s not about to let it all go down the drain. I want to hate her but in this scene, there is almost a moment of her actually feeling some remorse for her actions.

Too bad she has no idea that when she wakes up she’ll find that Carlo is already dead…

…And that Alma perfectly times a call to the house and plants the seed of suspicion into Catherine’s mind regarding her father’s untimely demise. Sorry, Rita, it looks like your days as a socialite are coming to an end.

In other parts of the episode, Dee (B.K. Cannon) tries to grapple with the fact that she’s learned she’s pregnant with Scooter’s baby. She tries to seek help wherever she can and even breaks up with Vern in the process.

She even has a somewhat helpful conversation with Rita when she goes to Scooter’s house to tell him. Rita stops her and says that she shouldn’t tell Scooter, and she should do what she needs to. There was even a glimpse of concern and nostalgia in her eyes so I think there is more to her commentary than we’ve previously known.

Vern ends up finding out from Rita that Dee is pregnant so he decides he is going to propose to Dee and help her raise the baby. It’s a noble and honorable thing to do, and as surprised as Dee is, she quickly says yes. Unlike her mom, Dee is trying to figure her life out in the right way, and hopefully, Alma’s actions don’t come back to haunt Dee.
