Batwoman Season 3: Robin Givens lands enigmatic new role
By Louis Skye
The first casting news for Batwoman Season 3 is out! We’ve got a new cast member joining, and confirmation that some of the characters from the ground-breaking second season will not be returning.
Deadline reports that Robin Givens will be playing the role of Jada Jet, the CEO of Jet Industries, in the upcoming season, set to premiere on October 13, 2021.
It has also been announced that Dougray Scott and Wallis Day, who played Jacob Kane and the second iteration of Jacob’s daughter, Kate, respectively, will not be returning next season. Both characters concluded their arcs with Jacob languishing in prison, and Kate on her way to save him.
Givens is a longstanding alum of The CW—she played Sierra McCoy, mother of Josie for four seasons. She also appeared on Katy Keene before the show was cancelled. Now, Givens is moving to a new role on the same network. Gotham is a different fictional city but just as dark as Riverdale.
Batwoman Season 3: Who is Jada Jet?
We know a little about Jada Jet but not how she fits into Batwoman Season 3. The character profile shared by Deadline describes Jada as a ‘boss’, which she is seeing as Jada is the CEO of Jet Industries. We don’t yet know what the company does, but if it’s Gotham, it’s probably nothing good.
Jada is also described as a passionate and hard-working person who hasn’t let the vagaries of life get her down or stop her from achieving her goals. Additionally, Jada is fiercely protective of her son, and will do anything to protect him. The son has yet to be cast.
Speculation is already rife that Jada may just be Ryan Wilder’s (Javicia Leslie) birth mother. Ryan had been led to believe that her mother had passed away until the villainous Alice (Rachel Skarsten) dropped a truth bomb in the season finale—Ryan’s mother was very much alive.
It may be too soon to assume that Jada is Ryan’s mother—this could be a ploy to hoodwink viewers who have been desperate for answers since the big reveal. There’s still time till October for other cast members to join, after all.
Whether Givens will be playing Ryan’s mother or not, she’s going to be an exciting addition to the show. Another Black woman and one in such a position power in Gotham City? This is just what the fans want!
