Watch the Schmigadoon! series premiere online tonight: July 16, 2021

Tonight Apple TV+ musical comedy Schmigadoon! makes its global debut on the streaming service. The series will drop the first two episodes at 12:00 a.m. PT / 3:00 a.m. ET on July 16, 2021 exclusively on Apple TV+. After that, new episodes of the six-episode first season drop weekly.

The star-studded cast features Cecily Strong, Keegan-Michael Key, Alan Cumming, Kristin Chenoweth, Aaron Tveit, Dove Cameron, Ariana DeBose, Fred Armisen, Jaime Camil, Jane Krakowski and Ann Harada.

Schmigadoon! is co-created by Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio with Paul serving as a showrunner. Paul also wrote all of the original songs for the series. The show comes from Broadway Video and Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group. Barry Sonnenfeld directs and executive produces.

In addition to starring, Strong serves as producer, and Daurio serves as consulting producer and writer. Andrew Singer executive produces with Lorne Michaels on behalf of Broadway Video. You will need an Apple TV+ subscription to watch Schmigadoon!.

What is Schmigadoon! about?

Schmigadoon! is the name of a magical town living in a 1940s musical. The show takes aim at the Golden Age of musicals with parody and over-the-top musical numbers. The first episode introduces us to couple Josh (Keegan-Michael Key) and Melissa (Cecily Strong) who are shocked when they stumble upon this town and are immediately greeted by a boisterous musical number “Welcome to Our Little Town.”

In the second episode, titled “Lovers’ Spat,” which also becomes available tonight, Josh and Melissa’s relationship is tested as they feel the strain of their new predicament. I’m sure there will be plenty of help musically-inclined bystanders to help them navigate any potential hiccups in their relationship, with song, of course.
