After much speculation, Marvel Cinematic Universe fans have confirmation that Loki Season 2 is definitely happening. The Disney Plus show felt like it had more story to tell and it’s going to have the room to tell it now.

The announcement was made at the end of the Season 1 finale. Instead of a post-credits scene, the Loki season finale included an overlay on the credits announcing that Loki would be back in Season 2. The news was also reported by outlets like TVLine.

Loki is the only Disney Plus Marvel spin-off, thus far, to get a second season. WandaVision wrapped up its story in nine episodes, although Wanda Maximoff/ Scarlet Witch is set to star in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.

Some cast members of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will next be seen in Captain America 4. The show has yet to get a second season, making Loki the only show greenlit for a return so far.

Loki Season 2: What will the show be about?

The opening season of Loki left a lot of threads unravelling. Not only had Loki found several variant versions of himself, as well as discovering that he himself was a variant caused by the Avengers time travelling back to 2012, but he had also developed feelings for one particular variant, Sylvie.

Loki and Sylvie had uncovered the person behind the mysterious Time Variance Authority, the organization sworn to protecting the ‘sacred timeline’ at any cost.

He Who Remains was revealed in the Loki Season 1 finale. As many fans already know, the unnamed character is actually Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors). When Sylvie killed Kang, it unleashed numerous alternate timelines with different versions of Kang, some less merciful than this one.

It is likely that Loki Season 2 will follow Loki, Sylvie, and the TVA’s adventures through these universes, especially as Loki is trapped in an alternate version of his timeline, as well.

There is speculation that Loki will also appear in the second Doctor Strange film, alongside the Sorcerer Supreme and Scarlet Witch. Though nothing has been confirmed, it is possible since Loki was partially responsible for the branching of the multiverse.

Meanwhile, Kang the Conqueror will be appearing in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The version in that film could be a different Kang than the one Loki will be facing off against in Loki Season 2, but nothing is certain yet.

The first six episodes of Loki were interesting but poorly-paced, and full of exposition. Much of this was due to the pandemic so we have no idea what impact it will have on Loki Season 2. For now, fans can be hopefully of seeing this fun cast of characters again, hopefully soon.
