All 9 Christmas episode of The Middle ranked, in honor of Christmas in July 2021.

Since we’re celebrating Christmas in July at FanSided, I thought it would be fun to rank all the Christmas episodes in one of my favorite sitcoms, The Middle. It’s a show I feel like was underrated during its many years on the air. Despite running for nine seasons, The Middle never got as much acclaim as Modern Family or some of the other sitcoms airing at the time.

That said, The Middle also has arguably some of the best and most consistent holiday episodes. Halloween? Thanksgiving? Valentine’s Day? New Years? Easter? Mother’s Day? They’re all covered. It’s not often that we get to see all the holidays play it in a show but The Middle has tons of holiday episodes, which is definitely part of its appeal!

9. The Middle Season 3, Episode 11 “A Christmas Gift”

“A Christmas Gift” wasn’t a bad episode but I wasn’t crazy about the overt religious storyline in this one. That said, I did appreciate Reverend Timtom’s message to Sue about allowing people to find religion on their own. The storyline with Axel and Bob also felt a little pointless to me. But Bob as a character never felt as essential to the series as some of the other side characters.

Easily my favorite storyline in this episode was Mike buying Frankie her dream dishwasher and trying to keep it a secret. Even though Frankie took things way too far by getting drunk at their Christmas party and humiliating Mike in front of everyone, his glee at getting her such a fantastic gift was so sweet! I’m also shocked the subplot with Sue wasn’t about her trying not to blab and ruin the secret early.
