2. The Middle Season 7, Episode 10 “No Silent Night”

This episode is easily one of the funniest Christmas episodes and another episode that proves how thoughtful MIke can be. The Hecks decide to skip church in person this year and just attend at home by watching a special on television.

The episode begins with the hilarious gag about no one in the house knowing what time it is because all the devices in the house show a different time. Then as Frankie tries to emanate a church service at home with Gatorade for wine and wheat thins for crackers, Sue realizes that somehow all the photos on their computer have been deleted.

Frankie goes into a downward spiral when she believes all of their photos are gone and the kids go into overdrive to help fix things. It’s not until the following morning when Mike reveals that he found the entire box of old pictures buried in the basement and gifts it to Frankie for Christmas.

1. The Middle Season 5, Episode 9 “The Christmas Tree”

I love this episode for so many reasons but mainly because all three storylines work so well. It’s hilarious and it’s heartwarming without being too cheesy. From Brick’s Ponzi scheme to Sue’s allergy to Mike getting choked up while talking about “Cats in the Cradle” to Axl, there’s just a lot of really sweet moments to appreciate throughout this Christmas episode, especially with Axl appreciating bonding with his family. Plus, it was nice to have an episode that didn’t focus so much on rushing to get the holiday accomplished as previous seasons have done.
