Joe Manganiello to star in AMC’s futuristic sci-fi drama Moonhaven
By Mads Lennon
One of the hottest werewolves and male strippers around, Joe Manganiello, is taking on a more serious role in the upcoming sci-fi drama Moonhaven on AMC. Per TVLine, the True Blood alum has been cast in a leading role in the six-episode series.
After starring in True Blood as the werewolf Alcide Herveaux for 42 episodes spread across several seasons, the actor went on to star in both Magic Mike films as Big Dick Richie. From there, he started to branch out into big blockbuster franchises like the DCEU, where he was cast as Slade Wilson/Deathstroke.
Unfortunately, due to all the insanity behind-the-scenes within the DCEU, Manganiello’s role as Deathstroke wound up just being a few cameo appearances in the original Justice League and Zack Snyder’s full director’s cut of the movie. It’s a shame because he seemed perfect for the role based on just a few glimpses we got of him.
What is Moonhaven about, and who will Joe Manganiello play?
But now, the 44-year-old is moving on to an exciting new project with the suspense thriller from writer-producer Peter Ocko, who previously worked on projects like Black Sails and Lodge 49.
Moonhaven stars newcomer Emma McDonald as a lunar cargo pilot and smuggler accused of a crime and left marooned in a utopian community known as Moonhaven. The series is set 100 years in the future, and this civilization built on the moon is meant to solve the problems that will soon cause the end of civilization as we know it on Earth.
Manganiello has been cast in the series regular role of Tomm Schultz. Tomm is a former military man that works alongside Earth’s diplomat to the moon. But his loyalties are put to the test when he tries a mind-altering Moon drug.
