Modern Love Season 2 is releasing very soon on Amazon Prime Video and we have a bunch of reasons you absolutely need to watch the show! The acclaimed Amazon Original is back for another eight-episode batch of sweet romantic stories and top-notch actors here to deliver them.

The great thing about the show’s sophomore season is that is more diverse than the first in every way, meaning there are people of different sexualities, race, social status, and even age. One of my personal favorite stories is about a girl in middle school who uses Buzzfeed quizzes to determine whether or not she might be gay. That episode captures what it’s like to be in middle school so perfectly it almost hurts.

5. You don’t need to have watched Season 1 and can watch episodes in any order.

One of the perks of an anthology series is you can watch the episodes in any order you want or even skip episodes altogether if they’re not as interesting to you as the others. In summation, Modern Love offers an easy breezy viewing experience. The episodes are short and you can choose to watch them at your leisure as there aren’t any real overlaps between the storylines.

Season 1 of Modern Love is available now on Amazon Prime, subscribe today.

4. Modern Love Season 2 is more inclusive than the first season.

As much as I enjoyed the first season, most of it was pretty straight and white. This season does a much better job of including people of different races and sexualities. I still think it could go further, particularly with embracing more LGBTQ+ romances, but it’s still a step up. As I mentioned earlier, one of my favorite episodes of the bunch is an incredibly sweet story about two middle school girls!

3. The episodes are short and decidedly sweet.

Each episode is also only approximately 30-35 minutes, although there was at least one that was only about 25 minutes total. If you’re not in the mood to watch the whole season, you can easily just watch one or two while you’re waiting on something or before settling down to bed. They’re short and incredibly sweet. It’s like curling up with a short, romantic story that makes you feel all warm inside.

2. Lots of fantastic guest stars.

Similar to Season 1, Modern Love Season 2 has several familiar faces that appear throughout the season, including people like Kit Harington, Jeena Yi, Zuzanna Szadkowski, Lulu Wilson, Garrett Hedlund, Jack Reynor, Ben Rappaport, Gbenga Akinnagbe, Anna Paquin, Minnie Driver, and more.

1. It’s not bogged down in COVID stories.

One thing I feared was that this would season would feature a bunch of COVID stories. While I’m sure there are some romances to be found within this recent difficult era of our lives, it’s something I”m already tired of seeing on television.

Thankfully, the show only has (off the top of my head) one episode that hinges on the early stages of the COVID lockdown and it’s done in a lighthearted way to provide suspense rather than something bleak and depressing. All in all, this season couldn’t have come at a better time for all of us burnt out on the recent delta variant news and is the perfect way to relax and feel uplifted for a few hours.
