The NAACP Image Award-winning anthology drama Truth Be Told returns for its second season on Apple TV+ this Friday. The 10-episode second season, which provides a glimpse into America’s obsession with true crime podcasts, will return with the first episode on August 20, followed by one new episode weekly, every Friday through October 22.

The second season premiere, titled “Other People’s Tears are Only Water,” sees Poppy attend an art exhibit for her friend, successful lifestyle guru Micah (Kate Hudson). But the night ends with a shocking tragedy.

Ahead of the show’s return, Apple has shared a sneak peek and a new featurette between returning star Octavia Spencer and series newcomer Kate Hudson.

Truth Be Told Season 2 sneak peek: You made an impact

In this special sneak peek clip, you can watch Poppy (Spencer), and Micah (Hudson) are walking back from a gallery event. Micah tells Poppy that her podcast has “made an impact” and caused a ripple effect throughout the journalism industry.

Poppy says that many of her detractors feel she ruined the trade, but then a bus passes by with her photo plastered along the side. It would appear that Micah was right.

Truth Be Told Season 2: “In Conversation” video featuring Octavia Spencer & Kate Hudson

The above video clip is a new featurette showing the Season 2 stars Spencer and Hudson chatting about what we can expect from the upcoming season. The stars accurately title the featurette a “lovefest” as they bond over their mutual love for one another.

Both actresses also comment on the excitement surrounding this season as Hudson comes aboard, and they sink their teeth into a new mystery, a real “whodunnit,” as Spencer calls it. Hudson believes it’s even stronger than the first season as they really get the chance to “go there” and tease how the show consistently turns up surprises at every corner.
