Nine Perfect Strangers: 11 most shocking moments from the premiere
By Taylor Gates
8. Masha taking Tony’s pills in exchange for his secret
Tony is having a rough time adjusting to Tranquillum House, to put it mildly, and part of that is due to an injury we learn he sustained playing football. In order to cope with his injury, he has to take pills — pills that Masha holds hostage from him in order to get “his secret.” Yikes. California may be warm, but Masha’s ice cold.
7. “I mean to f**k with all of you”
Tensions were already starting to flare at the end of the pilot episode, and it all comes to a head where Masha says something about death, striking a nerve with the Marconis. The scene escalates quickly, with Zoe running out of the yoga studio and culminating in Heather asking Masha if she’s messing with them. “This is Tranquillium,” she replies. “I mean to f**k with all of you.” At least she’s honest!
6. Heather stands on the edge of a cliff
Things go from bad to worse for poor Heather. Soon after the moment in the yoga studio, it all gets to be too much for her, and she finds herself standing on the edge of a cliff. Delilah eventually gets her to step away, and Napoleon is adamant she wouldn’t have really jumped, but Zoe doesn’t know if she believes him. (We aren’t sure, either.)
5. The protocol
The end of episode two consists of Masha telling Delilah and Yao she’s ready to start “the protocol” on the group. Although we don’t know exactly what that means, the way Delilah and Yao react (hesitant, unsure, a little frightened) isn’t super reassuring.
4. Carmel attacks Lars
Conflict has been brewing between optimistic, harried Carmel and confident, condescending Lars since the moment they met in the convenience store, and it all boils over at breakfast on Earth Day. After Lars continues to be dismissive of Carmel and her journey, Carmel gets fed up and lunges across the table at him a la Lisa Rinna at Kim Richards in Amsterdam. Too bad Yolanda Hadid wasn’t there to “interfere for one second” and diffuse the situation.
