The previous episode of this season was a rough one for all involved. Dr. Sharon (Sarah Niles) got into a biking accident that led to a breakthrough in her relationship with Ted (Jason Sudeikis). Ted revealed a devastating backstory, admitting that his father committed suicide when he was a teenager.

Then AFC Richmond lost the semifinals to Manchester City ad Jamie’s (Phil Dunster) took the opportunity to ridicule his son in the locker room until Coach Beard (Brendan Hunt) threw him out. It did lead to a sweet and surprising moment between Jamie and his rival Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein). In a more lighthearted moment, Sam and Rebecca finally met up and went on a date, sharing a kiss and even spending the night together.

In this week’s episode, titled “Beard After Hours,” Coach Beard will have his day in the spotlight as we follow him in the aftermath of the semifinals across London at night so he can collect his thoughts.
