Only Murders in the Building Season 1, Episode 8 Recap: Fan Fiction

In the previous episode of Only Murders in the Building, Theo kidnapped Oliver and Mabel after discovering the truth. Will Charles figure it out and get to them in time in Only Murders in the Building Episode 8?

The episode begins by showing a group of people sitting outside of the Arconia. They are fans of the podcast and are demanding another episode. Little do they know, Mabel and Oliver have gone missing. We see Mabel and Oliver in the back of Theo’s van. Theo finally stops at a warehouse and opens the doors. Teddy walks up. He talks to Oliver and Mabel and loads them into another car.

Only Murders in the Building Episode 8: What will Teddy do to them?

Teddy talks to Oliver and Mabel about his jewelry. He says he isn’t involved in the Tim Kono murder and needs them to end the show. Teddy also says they need to tell their listeners that Tim didn’t get murdered and say they were wrong.

When Oliver and Mabel get home, they find their fans outside. They quickly go to Charles’ apartment, where Jan greets them. Oliver and Mabel quickly tell Charles about Teddy’s threat. Jan and Charles have information about what they found on Tim’s phone. Charles tells Oliver and Mabel that it was Theo that killed Zoe those years ago.

Mabel pulls Charles and Oliver to the side and says they need help from someone who will have their back. They go to Detective Williams and tell her that Teddy killed Tim. She tells them to release the podcast episode about the phone but realizes that they can’t do that because of Teddy’s threats. So she tells them to put the case together instead.

Only Murders in the Building Episode 8: Will they be able to wrap up the case by morning?

Mabel, Charles and Oliver get ready to put the case together. Jan walks in with snacks, and Oscar joins too. Oscar says that Tim’s connection gave Tim the ring from the night Zoe died. Oliver gets annoyed that extra people are there and goes out to get food. He runs into the fans again. He assures them that the resolution is moments away. They ask him if there are going to be multiple suspects. The fans start to give him ideas, and he invites them inside.

Mabel calls Oliver and Charles into a meeting. Oliver tells them that they need the fans to help figure out the “how” of the case. The fans start to ask why Tim was on Teddy’s floor. They have a point, and now Oliver thinks that the suicide notes in the trash bag were really death threats from Teddy. Oliver has the fans act out what happened the night Tim died.

Charles, Oliver, and Mabel are about to record the episode, and Jan leaves. When Jan gets back to her apartment, there is a note on the door that says, “I’m watching you.”

The trio finishes recording. Detective Williams listens to the finished episode where they expose Teddy. The police show up at Teddy’s apartment. The trio and Oscar toast to their episode. Charles texts Jan, but she doesn’t answer. Is she safe?

Mabel shows Oscar a video of Tim from his phone that exonerates Oscar. Detective Williams calls Oliver and thanks him. But then, she sees the results of the toxicology report. The detective informs Oliver that someone poisoned Tim, and the gunshot wound happened after he died. Charles gets angry because Jan was right all along about there being another suspect. He goes to bring her flowers and finds her door open. She is on the floor bleeding from what looks like a stab wound!
