Agatha Harkness is coming BACK, and we could not be more excited about this new development. In a recent exclusive from Variety, the publication revealed that Disney and Marvel were extending their journey with the talented actress Kathryn Hahn.

Agatha was first introduced to viewers earlier this year as a nosy neighbor-type named Agnes in the first official Disney+/MCU series WandaVision, a massive acclaimed success for the streaming service. Fans accurately guessed that Agnes was more than she initially appeared. By the limited series’ penultimate episode, we found out “Agnes” was really the uber-powerful witch from the comic books Agatha Harkness.

In the Marvel comics, Agatha is a powerful adversary and sometimes ally of Wanda Maximoff, or the “Scarlet Witch.” In WandaVision, Hahn’s character helped MCU Wanda realize her true destiny as the Scarlet Witch, using the moniker for the first time in the franchise.

The last time we saw Agatha, Wanda had trapped her in Westview in her brainwashed Agnes persona, but we know she’s not going to stay there for long.

Agatha Harkness spinoff: Everything we know about Kathryn Hahn’s involvement in the MCU

According to Variety‘s sources, Agatha’s spinoff series will be a dark comedy, but we know little else right now. As is true to Marvel’s form, they’re keeping the main plot details under wraps while the show develops.

That’s not all, though. According to reports, Hahn will become a fixture in the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She won’t just have her own show, but Agatha will appear in other Disney+ projects and MCU films. In what capacity will she appear? It’ll be a while before we get all of those details but watch this space.

What’s next for Kathryn Hahn?

WandaVision was a monumental feat for the MCU and Disney+ as the series garnered more than 20 nominations at the recent Primetime Emmy Awards. Lead actors Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany and Hahn all received acting nominations. WandaVision also won an Emmy for original music thanks to the catchy “Agatha All Along” that revealed the big Agnes/Agatha twist.

Apart from her work in the MCU, Hahn has several exciting projects coming up, including a limited series at Showtime where she will play the late comedic legend Joan Rivers. She is also set to appear in the upcoming Apple TV+ series The Shrink Next Door, which premieres this November.
