A Million Little Things Season 4 is bringing Gary (James Roday Rodriguez) closer and closer to the authorities, and it’s not looking good. After setting up a situation where Sophie’s (Lizzy Greene) abuser, Peter (Andrew Leeds), is beaten up, Gary is in a very sticky situation as the investigation continues.

To make matters worse, Peter’s wife, Anna (Erin Karpluck), tells Detective Craig Saunders (Brian Markinson) that she noticed a bearded man hanging out around their house in the days leading up to Peter’s assault.

She’s also in denial that Peter ever hurt any of his students, a devotion that will come back to haunt her by the end of the episode. Anna is livid when she hears Maggie’s (Allison Miller) podcast in which Sophie guest starred and spoke about her sexual assault and gave out Peter’s name.

And that takes us right into the significant moments of this week’s episode of A Million Little Things Season 4! Spoilers ahead!

A Million Little Things Season 4, Episode 3 recap: Boys night out

Gary, Eddie, and Rome (Romany Malco) have a guy’s night in while the girls have a divorce party for Katherine (Grace Park). But the guy’s night takes a turn when Gary and Eddie start helping Theo (Tristan Byon) with plans to impress his first crush, Kiana (Jaeda Owens). It’s super adorable, and seeing Theo get shy and then angry at the innocent jabs is something I couldn’t stop gushing over. First crushes are the best!

Gary goes into a panic when he realizes that he can’t find his lucky Bruins hat, which I’m starting to think he left at Peter’s house by accident. He really wants to find the hat because it was the one John (Ron Livingston) gave him during chemotherapy. Gary, Rome, and Liam begin looking for the hat and go to the place where Darcy (Floriana Lima) dropped off a box of donations.

They can’t fit through the gate, so Liam faces his fears of germs and not only sneaks in but dives into the dumpster to rummage through it. He doesn’t find the hat, but it is a heartwarming feeling nonetheless. He feels so close to Gary that he was willing to go into the dumpster—now that is true love!

While they’re gone, Eddie and Theo head to the store to get art supplies for a grand gesture Theo will make for Kiana. While there, Eddie spots the blonde woman who was allegedly the one who ran him over. Just as Eddie is about to say something to her, Theo shows up, and he has to back off.

The dark moment takes a sweet turn as Theo arrives at Kiana’s doorstep with music playing in the background. He holds up signs just like that scene from Love Actually with Andrew Lincoln and Kiera Knightley–and it is so stinking cute! They both tell each other they like each other and then adoringly run away.

Yay for Theo!

A Million Little Things Season 4, Episode 3 recap: The divorce party

Meanwhile, Maggie, Katherine, Darcy, Shanice (Nikiva Dionne), and Gina (Christina Moses) all get together to celebrate the end of Katherine and Eddie’s marriage. It’s an awkward party, to say the least, especially when they start playing “Never Have I Ever.”

When the conversation turns to Katherine dating, she gets very uncomfortable and eventually snaps at the girls. She’s not there yet, and it’s not even something she’s genuinely even faced the reality of.

But thanks to Shanice’s expert advice, Katherine seems to get a hold of herself. But dare I say there are some romantic vibes brewing between Katherine and Shanice? Especially after Shanice shares that the first person she was with after her divorce was a woman.

I think there may be a love story brewing for Katherine in the near future, and it could be with someone we didn’t expect at all!

A Million Little Things Season 4, Episode 3 recap: Sophie to the rescue

Unfortunately, Maggie being around now means she has to learn about Eddie’s life and relationship with Darcy, which includes learning about how they are going to try and have a kid together. When Sophie overhears this uncomfortable conversation, she pulls Maggie away for a gas station run.

While they’re there, Sophie sees Peter’s wife coming out of the store and tries to give her condolences for Peter’s accident. Anna is anything but friendly towards Sophie and immediately attacks her for doing the podcast.

I’d just like to give Sophie a shout-out because she stands her ground and doesn’t let Anna crap all over her. She lets Anna know that what she said is the truth and it’s Anna that should be looking into her husband’s shady behavior.

Instead of going back to the part, Maggie and Sophie have some ice cream together and bond some more. They’ve really formed a close bond, and I love to see how close they’ve become!

Back at the hospital, Anna feels suspicious after talking to Sophie and decides to look through her husband’s phone. She uses his finger to unlock the phone and just as she begins to look through it, we see his eyes open. Uh oh.

And before I end this recap, I have to mention that Darcy is definitely onto Gary, especially after noticing one of his shirts is ripped. And it looks like the woman who ran over Eddie is going to confess the entire story to him, so we have a lot to look forward to during next week’s episode!
