Who will fans see in Tales of the Walking Dead next year?
Just when we thought there wouldn’t be any more surprises from The Walking Dead, we get presented with another surprising announcement! The six-episode Tales of the Walking Dead will be premiering in the summer of 2022, reports TVLine.
Production won’t begin until after the new year and will focus on characters new and old. Writer and producer of The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead, Channing Powell, will be taking the reigns with some help from previous The Walking Dead showrunner Scott M. Gimple.
While all of this sounds exciting, it’s not clear if these episodes will be prequels or midquels for specific characters or if they will be going in an entirely different direction, much like that of the Disney Plus series What If…?.
Taking into account that The Walking Dead has eleven seasons, there is plenty of room to explore. For instance, perhaps we can see how the original group (Glenn, Shane, Carol, Lori, Andrea etc.) from Season 1 got together just as the apocalypse began?
Which characters will we see on Tales of the Walking Dead next summer?
It would be cool to see how The Governor started Woodbury? Or how did Negan takeover The Sanctuary? How about Glenn’s pizza delivering days? Or how was King Ezekiel able to coax Shiva to trust him?
Or would Tales of the Walking Dead take events that already happened to certain characters and spin them differently? For instance, how about if Spencer could rise against Rick and thus Alexandria would be in the midst of civil war?
What would happen if Negan won the war? Heck, what would have happened if Rick, Michonne and Carl saved the man carrying the orange backpack?
Perhaps those alternative storylines will be saved for another spinoff. For now, we can only speculate and keep our eyes and ears sharp for any updates.
Which characters do you want to see get their own episode?
The Walking Dead Season 11 returns on February 20, 2022.
