A Million Little Things Season 4, Episode 4 recap: Pinocchio
By Ariba Bhuvad
A Million Little Things Season 4 kicks things off with Peter Benoit (Andrew Leeds) waking up from his coma. It doesn’t bode well for Gary (James Roday Rodriguez), who hopes that Peter doesn’t wake up and reveal that he was behind the break-in.
It’s unclear if Peter is pretending to have short-term memory loss or if the beating resulted in him forgetting everything about the fight. But where Peter’s memory is lacking, Detective Craig Saunders (Brian Markinson) is eager to remind him of the whole incident. Or at least show him pictures of Gary and Christoper Gregory (Michael Weston), who he suspects is behind the entire thing (and that suspicion is 100% spot-on, but he doesn’t know that).
Detective Saunders shows up to speak with Gary once again and shows him the picture of Peter later. It was Christopher getting into Gary’s car, and instead of just coming clean, Gary digs a deeper hole for himself by saying he and Christoper are old friends. The Detective drives away just as Darcy (Floriana Lima) and Liam (Mattia Castrillo) come out to hear more of Gary’s lies.
A Million Little Things Season 4, Episode 4 recap: Maggie wants her new job
Meanwhile, Maggie (Allison Miller) is hoping to hang onto her new job, and she should because she’s amazing at it. Claudia (Andrea Bang) convinces Maggie to try and talk to the head honcho, Jane Goodman (Stephnie Weir).
Unfortunately, Jane and Nick (Mark Derwin) start fighting, preventing Maggie from having the conversation she wants. Out of frustration, she makes a random comment about the two fighting the HR lady by accident. She didn’t know Rachel (Jill Morrison) was in HR or that she was going to try and talk to Jane and Nick after hearing that comment.
Maggie quickly learns from Claudia that Jane and Nick used to date, but when Jane was given an ultimatum–her relationship or her promotion, you can take one guess what she went with. Ever since then, the two of them have been at odds.
Unfortunately for Maggie, Jane knows that she made that comment about her and Nick and tells her that Maggie is on the shortlist for the job despite the gossiping.
A Million Little Things Season 4, Episode 4 recap: Rome’s movie
Things went from great to horrible for Rome (Romany Malco), who learned that a streaming service would pick up his movie screened at the New England Film Festival. He was ecstatic to know that the movie was getting such a great response until he learned that it was pulled from the festival because it was going onto the streaming service.
Usually, that could mean a great thing, but in this case, it’s not. Rome finds out that the streaming service bought his movie to make sure it would never see the light of day since they were already making something like it.
It’s a brutal move, and I’m not sure what exactly Rome will be able to do about it. But hey, at least his dad was there to help him feel better!
A Million Little Things Season 4, Episode 4 recap: Eddie learns the truth
Eddie (David Giuntoli) finally meets up with the woman who ran him over and caused the accident. Since the accident, Eddie has been understandably angry and bitter towards whoever ruined his life. And despite his therapist’s (Michael Patrick Thornton) advice, Eddie decides to meet up with the woman, Nicole (Rachel Nichols), who reached out to him when she was overcome with guilt.
Eddie shows up at the diner with a lot of resentment, but when he notices that Nicole has bruises in her arms, he finds out what really happened the night he got run over. Nicole was trying to get her and her child away from her abusive husband, and for two seconds, she got distracted while driving.
In that two seconds, Eddie was hit, and his life fell apart. And now it seems that instead of trying to release his anger on Nicole, he may end up helping her.
Did anyone else cry in the scene between Eddie and Theo (Tristan Byon) when he told Theo that he would never walk again, but that’s okay? Theo is literally the best kid ever, and he took the whole conversation in such stride!
A Million Little Things Season 4, Episode 4 recap: Gary and Darcy break up
And then, of course, we arrive at the episode’s biggest heartbreak. Over the last couple of episodes, Darcy has noticed Gary’s strange behavior, and it didn’t take her long to figure out what happened.
She calls off the plans to move in together because, in the off-chance that Gary gets arrested for hurting Peter, she doesn’t want Liam to see any of that. Her priority has always been Liam, and that will never change.
So, just like that, these two have broken up, Gary has lost a wonderful woman from his life, and I’m afraid of what will come next for this guy. Especially after that call, he got from Peter saying that he remembers everything from the night of the assault.
I know the episode ended with this, but I have a feeling Peter is not going to rat Gary out. Peter may feel remorse for his actions, and because of that, he wants to let Gary walk away scot-free. Whether or not that happens, we’ll have to wait and see, but something tells me it’s not going to be what we think.
Will Gary get away with this Peter situation?
