The Flash Season 8: Synopsis, cast, trailer, and release date
Currently the longest-tenured show within The CW’s Arrowverse, The Flash is about to make its epic return. After the last couple of seasons were negatively impacted by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, The Flash Season 8 is bouncing back from its production struggles in a major way.
After the last season saw the departure of series regulars and original cast members Tom Cavanagh and Carlos Valdes, this upcoming season is already set up to have a very different vibe than the first seven (no pun intended). Not only will the lack of classic cast members make The Flash season 8 unique, but the show is also set to hit the ground running with a five-episode event.
The Flash Season 8 synopsis
As previously announced, this upcoming season about the fastest man alive will kick off their eighth season with a minor crossover event titled “Armageddon.” As described by The CW, this event will see the arrival of an alien threat that they are unable to take on alone. This means Team Flash will have to enlist help from their friends around the Arrowverse to take on this powerful threat.
The Flash Season 8 cast
Apart from the series regulars who audiences have grown to love and care for, this upcoming season will see some old faces return in a recurring format. Kristen Kramer (Carmen Moore), Sue Dearborn (Natalie Dreyfuss), and Jay Garrick (John Wesley Shipp) will be appearing throughout this season.
On top of these heroic companions, The Flash’s offspring here from the future will be appearing in Nora and Bart Allen played by Jessica Parker Kennedy and Jordan Fisher, respectively. All of these characters have imprinted their mark on The Flash series and their return is sure to create some more amazing scenes.
Because of the “Armageddon” crossover event set up to kick off season 8, audiences will see some familiar faces from other shows from around The CW. On the heroes side the likes of Ryan Wilder/Batwoman (Javicia Leslie), Jefferson Pierce/Black Lightning (Cress Williams), Ray Palmer/The Atom (Brendan Routh), Mia Queen/Green Arrow (Katherine McNamara), Alex Danvers/Sentinel (Chyler Leigh), and Ryan Choi (Osric Chau) will be helping out Team Flash.
There will also be Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough) and Eobard Thawne/Reverse-Flash (Tom Cavanagh) appearing. Since their allegiances have flipped back and forth from good and evil depending on the threat, it is too early to tell if they will side with Barry Allen and his allies, or the powerful alien called Depsero (Tony Curran). This season will also see the return of Rick Cosnett as Eddie Thawne, but all those details can be found here!
