4. Alden?

So in case, anyone forgot we haven’t seen nor heard from Alden since Episode 3. Alden was amongst the survivors after the first violent attack by The Reapers at nightfall.

He and Negan managed to escape and hide out in the same abandoned mall Maggie comes across on her own. In the midst of more Reaper killing Alden winds up severely wounded needing Negan and Maggie to carry him along.

But the obvious became clear when they reached a church and Alden gets left behind with some food and weapons. Did The Reapers catch up and kill him?

Did he die from his wounds? Or was he found and is recovering somewhere unknown to the characters and audience watching?

It would seem kind of rushed to see Alden killed off so early in Season 11, especially when the actor Callan McAuliffe’s name has reached opening credit level status. But we have seen the show waste away several characters who had potential and literal purpose before for reasons we will never get behind or understand.

3. Will Alexandria be abandoned?

This is one question that has been weighing heavily on my mind all season, especially since The Commonwealth has been confirmed. As much as seeing our heroes potentially leave their home for several seasons or in their case years would be heartbreaking, it may be necessary for their survival and future.

Unfortunately, The Whisperers did quite a number on the beloved home and everything looks to be barely hanging on, including the front doors to homes. Walkers are getting in easily let alone with the help of violent weather.

But the big thing that we know and the characters don’t is that at Alexandria they lead their own. They have a small community that grows every now and again.

Overall they protect and lead their own in a very successful way. The Commonwealth however does not function the same.

At The Commonwealth our characters would have to answer to others in a higher power, they will be told what to do, follow strict rules and live in a very controlled community. From what we’ve seen of this community, it’s so efficient that it’s almost problematic.

True, no one seems outrightly unhappy. Most seem content however there have to be reasons why Tomi never told them of his career as a surgeon.

Perhaps people don’t care about how controlled they really are if it means feeling safe, eating ice cream, and occasionally going for walks. But for our characters there needs to be more than just a monotonous lifestyle.

Yes, they need to survive, but they need to live too.

2. How will Daryl react to Connie’s return?

Connie is alive and reunited with Kelly and the rest of Alexandria. Well, almost.

Aside from Kelly, Daryl was the only other person who was actively trying to find her. As we recall, Connie and Magna got trapped in a cave of walkers when Carol, not surprisingly, fell for Alpha’s obvious trap.

Daryl was the only person who in a panic and near tears was trying to pull away the rocks to get to Connie until he was forced to stop. Since then he and Carol have been on shaky ground and he hasn’t stopped trying to find Connie.

Daryl and Connie became close buddies as she refused to let him stop her from helping out and had even taught him how to be more patient and understanding. Daryl began to learn sign language and exchanged a smile or two in her direction.

Something Kelly even noticed. So then how will Daryl react when he returns to Alexandria and sees her there?

This is one reaction fans will be studying very closely as Daryl will not be expecting to see her.

1. Is the Negan and Maggie quarrel officially over?

For our sake, let’s hope the Negan and Maggie fighting is over but let’s not be surprised if it isn’t. Understandably Maggie has every right to hate Negan but even she has to understand his value.

If the midseason finale didn’t show how valuable he was, then nothing will. She doesn’t have to suddenly be best friends with the man who killed her husband but she shouldn’t ignore his help either.

As a leader, she has to act and think the part which means accepting the fact that reliable people are rare. Negan had not led her astray throughout their suicide mission to get food and supplies from Meridian and continually tried to help her.

While she refused repeatedly, she finally gave his advice a try when she donned a walker mask. The plan to lead walkers right to Meridian to kill The Reapers was successful for the most part.

It probably would have been a complete success if Leah left The Reapers behind and fled with Daryl. So while the midseason finale can be seen as a minor speedbump for Negan’s plan, Maggie has to see that he’s worth keeping around.
