The Walking Dead: World Beyond Season 2, Episode 5 recap

Jennifer finally figures out what her mother has been lying about, while Hope caves and tells her dad the truth, and the rest of the group devises a plan to get Hope and Dr. Bennett out of the CRM.

Episode 5 of The Walking Dead: World Beyond titled “Quatervois” has our main characters finally taking action but will their plan work when so many eyes are on them? It’s a risk they are willing to take.

Iris devises a plan to rescue Hope and her father from the CRM that would also guarantee The Perimeter’s safety. The Perimeter would turn Iris and Felix in while Percy, Elton, and Will wait.

Once they are in the CRM they would reunite with Hope and Dr. Bennett until 2:00 PM. At that time Silas would be waiting in a truck to pick them up.

They would then flee and head toward Portland to regroup and find a way to destroy the CRM. Sounds easy until it isn’t.

Firstly, it takes Silas some convincing to steal keys from Dennis whom he has grown to like and trust. Iris convinces Silas that the CRM was responsible for the destruction at Omaha even though Silas believes if Dennis knew he wouldn’t be happy and instead help them.

In the end, Silas keeps their plan a secret and is able to get the keys to the truck without question. Iris and Felix ride in a covered wagon to the meeting point when Percy arrives on a horse wearing Elton’s jacket.

His attempts to have Iris and Felix allow him to come with them have come to a point of desperation. Upon denying him again the CRM shows up and the three are taken.

While inside Elizabeth questions them, somehow unconvinced that The Perimeter hadn’t been helping them. But when everything appears to check out, Hope and Dr. Bennett are allowed to see them.

Hope’s vivid nightmare of watching CRM soldiers kill her father due to his persistence on finding Iris and Felix is the breaking point. While searching to find her father and tell him the truth, she finds that he is with a group of scientists.

Together they used her father’s methods and Hope’s yeast suggestion she made in class recently. They believe a breakthrough is possible.

Afterward, Hope finally tells her father everything. She admits that while she hates the CRM she knows the researchers and scientists are doing excellent work that can change the future.

Meanwhile, Jennifer is still stuck on what Iris and Felix told her the night before, unable to shake the feeling her mother is lying. In the midst of her troubled mind, she still doesn’t confide in Dennis (her confirmed husband).

She searches her mother’s office and finds chilling information about what happened at Omaha. However, she is caught leaving her office and comes up with a lie on the fly.

At this point, Jennifer knows 100% that her mother cannot be trusted.

Elton waits back at The Perimeter with Will where Asha admits to him that her mother Indira is the one who is sick. Apparently, the rest of The Perimeter can’t know otherwise the leadership will change.

Elton is glad Asha shared this with him and the two share a friendly goodbye. Iris, Felix, and Percy go to Hope and Dr. Bennett’s apartment and discuss the plan even though Dr. Bennett isn’t sure.

Iris and Felix reassure everything will work in their favor even on the off chance they fail. When he finally does agree he decides that he must tell Lyla but on his way to find her Jennifer finds him first.

She reveals some terrifying information about what happened at Omaha. Turns out those who died are being used as experiments at the CRM and she wants to know who is behind it so they can stop it.

While Iris, Hope, Felix, and Percy wait anxiously inside, Silas waits outside and gets surrounded by CRM soldiers.

The Walking Dead: World Beyond Season 2 Episode 5 is full of suspense and I loved every second of it!

So why do I love this episode the most this season thus far? Because the suspense was perfectly executed.

Was Silas going to help his friends? If he was, was Dennis going to suspect anything?

Would Elizabeth believe the story Iris, Felix, and Percy told her? Is The Perimeter now in danger?

Would Dennis find out what Jennifer did and if so will he still look at her the same? How would Dr. Bennett react to Hope’s confession?

And the questions go on and on. Finally, some answers come into play such as why the attack on Omaha happened (to be fair there is probably more to it).

Now that Jennifer and Dr. Bennett have proof of what happened, he’ll finally find out that Lyla isn’t as sweet as she claims to be. But this also means Elizabeth is one step closer to finding out Jennifer isn’t trustworthy.

Since Silas gets caught how will the group escape? There is a great setup for an exciting next episode!

Let’s hope everything works out and our heroes survive.
