In the previous episode of All American, Spencer finally signs a commitment contract to a college in Ohio. Will all the relationships around him mend before he has to leave?

This episode starts with Spencer and Olivia at Spencer’s house getting very friendly. Olivia says that they should hang out at her house, but Spencer doesn’t want to see Billy. She asks Spencer to reach out.

Jordan, Asher, and Spencer are at the cafe in Beverly. Asher is talking about how he can not play football anymore. He has found out that his condition is genetic. Jordan also mentions that Spencer hasn’t been around the house.

Spencer asks if Jordan and his father are okay. Spencer tells him that he isn’t so lucky. Jordan tries to tell Spencer that Billy will come around.

All American Season 4 Episode 2: Will Spencer and Billy’s relationship ever be repaired?

Olivia goes home to her father. She tells him that Spencer says hello. Billy doesn’t want to talk about it. He also tells Olivia that Spencer will be leaving soon and that she shouldn’t follow him.

Layla wakes up on her birthday at the Baker house and hopes that everyone forgot about it. Instead, they surprise her with a large breakfast. She has her day planned with work and is trying to avoid her birthday.

Patience and Coop are in the cafe in Crenshaw. Coop is spending more time on her phone than talking to her. Patience brings this up, and Coop says that she has a lot of work to do. Patience thinks that Coop shouldn’t rush back into anything.

When Layla gets to school, she finds that her whole locker has been decorated. They tell her that there is also going to be a party. She doesn’t want to have a party and asks for a small dinner instead.

Olivia and Simone think that they should change the party to a small dinner, but Jordan and Asher want to keep the party. They get Olivia and Simone to agree to a small party. Something tells us that this isn’t going to stick.

Spencer is at school and calls Olivia. They plan to meet at the mall after school. She wants him to pick her up, but then Billy passes by and doesn’t even look at Spencer. This breaks Spencer, and he agrees to come to her house. Enough is enough between him and Billy.

Asher goes to visit Coach Montes. She asks him how he is doing. He says not good, but okay. She tells him that they wouldn’t have won the game without his plays. She then offers him a referral to a cardiologist who works with professional athletes.

Layla is eating lunch with her father. He gives her a birthday gift. When she asks him to forget about her birthday, they bring over a cake and start singing.

All American Season 4 Episode 2: Why is Layla avoiding her birthday?

Patience is in her house getting a talk from her father. Her parents are concerned about Coop’s behaviors and think that Patience is in danger.

Asher’s mom is talking to him about this new doctor. She doesn’t want to take him because she doesn’t want to give him hope, but he convinces her to let him go.

Spencer gets to the Baker house, and Billy answers. Spencer wants to talk to him, but Billy wants to brush him off. After Spencer calls him out on it, Spencer and Olivia leave.

Asher’s mom goes to see Coach Montes. She is angry that Montes has given him false hope.

Olivia comes back home and talks to Jordan about Spencer’s relationship with their father. She wants Jordan to understand that his father’s relationship with Spencer is worse than his relationship with Jordan. This makes Jordan think about the entire situation.

Coop is at the recording studio with Layla, but she is having a hard time recording. They decide to call it quits for the day.

Jordan confronts Billy about why he isn’t mad at him. Billy claims that he isn’t mad at Jordan because Jordan is his son. Jordan says that it is reversed. Jordan thinks that Billy expects Jordan to mess up but expects perfection from Spencer.

Patience is with Coop in Crenshaw. They are picking up stuff for Layla’s party. Patience is starting to get upset with Coop’s decision-making. She tries to explain to Coop that they are connected and that their actions affect each other.

Coop admits that she isn’t cleared by her doctor and that her lungs may never recover.

The whole group is setting up for Layla’s party. Billy walks past Olivia and Spencer. Olivia calls Billy over to talk to Spencer. They both claim to be okay, but Olivia tells them that they better work it out.

Layla arrives and knows that it is a big party, but she pretends to act surprised. Spencer sees Patience and asks what is going on between her and Coop. Patience says that she almost broke up with her.

Patience also tells Spencer that Coop has some lung issues and that she can’t rap anymore. She is worried that Coop is going to spiral because of it.

Billy asks Laura why Jordan didn’t go to him and went to Spencer instead. Laura says that Jordan was only doing what Billy did after he hurt his knee. Billy now sees Jordan in a new light.

Spencer finds Layla and wishes her a happy birthday. He also says that he had very little to do with the huge party. Spencer tells her that she is allowed to go and hide somewhere if she wants.

All American Season 4 Episode 2: Will Asher play football again?

Asher is starting to realize that he isn’t going to play football again, and the football talk is getting to him. The doctor called and said his heart issues are from his steroid use.

Layla is hiding out upstairs. Olivia finds her and apologizes for the party. Layla knows that Jordan and Asher still would have found a way to have it. Olivia reassures her that she is taking steps in the right direction and getting her life back.

Patience tries to talk to Coop. Coop says that she is quitting her music career. Patience tells her not to give up, but Coop is done.

Layla is saying goodbye to her father and asks her father to stop calling her princess. Her father tells her that her mother hated birthdays, too. She asks him to take her to a shooting range to say goodbye to her childhood, and they go together.

The first thing Coop does when she gets home is call Preach. Patience was right.

Jordan is in the backyard, and Billy comes over to talk. Billy says that he wished Jordan felt more comfortable going to him. Jordan didn’t want to get Billy wrapped up in his mistake. They mend their relationship. Jordan asks about Spencer, but Billy doesn’t say.

Spencer is inside hanging out with Olivia. Olivia thanks him for trying to mend things with her father. Spencer tells her that Billy is going to have to get comfortable with him around. Billy watches this all but doesn’t say anything.
