The Great season 2 is officially on Hulu! You can now stream all 10 episodes of the witty, irreverent historical dramedy. It’s been a while since season 1 premiered — here are five things you should keep in mind before binging the next season.

What to remember before The Great season 2: Catherine is pregnant

After performing an old-school pregnancy test of peeing on some wheat, Catherine found out she was pregnant — a fact that helped save her after Peter learned she was behind the coup. Season 2 will see her dealing with the challenges of pregnancy…on top of all the other chaos going on in her life.

What to remember before The Great season 2: Marial betrayed Catherine

Though one of her best friends and closest confidants for most of the season, Marial betrayed Catherine in the worst way when she needed her most. The disagreement on how to handle Archie, who helped raise Marial after her mother died, caused tension between them, ultimately pushing Marial to her breaking point. Though Marial insists she only told Peter their plans in order to save all of them, something tells us Catherine isn’t going to forgive and forget so easily.

What to remember before The Great season 2: The court ladies like her now

Though Marial and Catherine are now on bad terms, it seems Catherine is garnering some support from unexpected places: the snobby court ladies, namely Lady Svenska. After her impassioned speech post-Peter’s torture day, they all pledged not only their respect but also love for Catherine. Will this love last? Could they be new allies, perhaps?

What to remember before The Great season 2: Elizabeth figured it out

The Great — “The Beaver’s Nose” – Episode 110 — Catherine’s decides to move forward with the coup on her birthday. Peter isn’t so easily overcome and holds Leo hostage as collateral. In exchange for a return to her status, Marial betrays Catherine to Peter and tells him that she is pregnant. Catherine realizes that the only chance for a greater Russia is to fight, without Leo. Though The Great season 1 finale saw almost everyone figuring out Catherine was behind the plans to kill Peter, Aunt Elizabeth put the pieces together before almost anyone else. Catherine noted her reaction was hard to read, and we agree. She loves Peter, but she also thinks Catherine would make a better ruler. Ultimately, we’re not quite sure where her loyalties lie.

What to remember before The Great season 2: Catherine was willing to sacrifice Leo for Russia

Though The Great is known for its outlandish jokes and comedically bloody moments, the last few minutes of season 1 had us in tears. In order to successfully complete the coup, Catherine had to sacrifice Leo: the true love of her life. The moment was heartbreaking, and although there’s a slim possibility Leo might have somehow made it out alive, we’re not getting our hopes up. One thing’s for sure — if he is dead, Catherine will not let him die in vain. This will likely fuel her to become the leader she was always destined to be even more.
