All American Season 4 Episode 5 Recap: Can It All Be So Simple

In the previous episode of the CW’s All American, we learn that Spencer is trying to get out of his contract with Toledo state. Will it work? Where will he go?

Spencer, Billy, Laura, and Grace are trying to get Spencer out of his contract with Toledo State. Billy says that he is going to get some scouts out this week, but Spencer isn’t hopeful about this.

Patience is recording in Layla’s studio. Layla tells Patience that she should move up her album drop and headline the tour. Patience isn’t so sure that she should do it because it would be replacing Coop.

Olivia is at her AA meeting. She is hearing from other members about how she helped change their lives. Joy then asks to share her story with new members.

All American Season 4 Episode 5: Could Olivia’s story have an impact?

Billy is walking through the halls of Crenshaw. The news has dropped that Spencer will not be attending Toledo State. The media is ripping him apart, but Billy has a plan.

At practice this afternoon, Billy decides to throw his own combine for all the coaches to see what the boys of Crenshaw and Beverly have.

The boys are in Beverly getting ready for the combine. JJ has someone following him with a camera to document the end of their season year. Jordan and Asher are going over plays when JJ says that he wants to perform as a quarterback. Asher thinks that he should go for a linebacker. JJ doesn’t want to hear it and still is set on performing at quarterback.

Spencer is in Crenshaw and runs into Coach Boone. He knows what is happening with Toledo State and tells him not to worry about it. The two of them grab a coffee.

Olivia is at NA talking about her experience with substance abuse. There is one girl in the group that isn’t listening to Olivia and ends up walking out. Her name is Jenn, and she is 15 years old. Joy asks Olivia to be her sponsor, but Olivia isn’t sure about this.

All American Season 4 Episode 5: Will Spencer be in the combine?

Billy has announced that the combine is about to begin. The boys are having fun lifting and running as much and as fast as they can. Billy is talking to other coaches about Spencer. One asks about his loyalty, and Billy tells him that Spencer can be trusted.

Coop is walking with Amina. Patience sees them in the hallway. Olivia walks up and starts talking about the tour, but Patience hasn’t had a chance to say anything to Coop yet. This throws Coop for a loop.

JJ is not doing well in the combine. Asher tries one more time to tell him to try linebacker. JJ bites and runs back onto the field. Chris and Jordan both want to run quarterback, so Spencer runs for them both.

Olivia runs into Jenn at the combine. They start talking. Jenn is into ballet, and this is what lead her to her substance use. Jenn doesn’t think that she has a problem. Jenn asks Olivia to be her sponsor. When Olivia hesitates, Jenn walks away.

All of the boys are in the stairwell talking about how it went. Billy walks up and says that a coach wants to talk to JJ. Spencer also has some coaches that want to meet with him. So far, no one wants to talk to Jordan.

Jordan and Asher are at the Baker house. JJ knocks on the door. Coastal California has offered him a scholarship, which was Asher’s dream school and his scholarship. Three coaches want Spencer, but he is still not out of his contract with Toledo State.

All American Season 4 Episode 5: Will Spencer be released from Toledo?

Late a night, Coach Boone shows up at Spencer’s house. He wants Spencer to be on his team. He also tells Spencer that he would be okay if Spencer’s Toledo situation makes him sit out his freshman year.

The Toledo State coach is sitting down with Billy and is having a talk with him about his hold on Spencer. Billy threatens cancel culture on him, and this might actually stick.

Asher visits Layla in the studio. He feels bad for telling JJ that it was his scholarship.

Patience talks to Coop about the tour. Coop gives her the go-ahead to headline the tour. Coop wants her to feel supported.

Billy comes home to his house, and Jordan has an offer to play at the same school as Spencer. Will they both end up in the same place?

Olivia is catching Spencer up on everything that has been happening at NA. Spencer understands Olivia’s reservations, but he thinks that he should help Jenn. They start talking about Spencer’s offers. Olivia thinks that he should go with Coach Boone.

They hear a commotion downstairs. Spencer and Olivia run downstairs. Jordan tells them the good news. Spencer realizes that they could play together, but he doesn’t say anything.

JJ and Asher are talking at school. JJ tells Asher that he needs to be a coach. Olivia runs into Jenn at NA. Olivia lays down the law, and Jenn has to accept it.

Coop is with Amina. Amina is trying to put together the pieces of her mother’s death. She knows everything points to Coop.

Spencer calls Coach Boone back to his house. He agrees to play for him and with Jordan.
