Where have you seen Yellowjackets actress Christina Ricci before?
By Taylor Gates
Yellowjackets is one of the darkest, most mysterious, and most captivating shows to premiere this year. Centering around a group of girls who must learn to survive the wilderness — and each other — after their plane goes down on the way to a soccer game, the show touches on everything from coming of age to cannibalism. While each character brings something interesting to the table, Misty may just be the most fascinating (and terrifying) of all. Christina Ricci plays the present-day version of Misty. Christina Ricci plays the adult version of Misty
It’s clear from the get-go that Misty is an outcast, getting virtually ignored by many of the girls on the soccer team and prank called and told she’s ugly by other classmates. It’s enough to drive a person a little mad — and it seems that’s exactly what happened in Misty’s case. Misty finally finds purpose after the plane crash, and the others come to respect and rely on her first aid skills. This affinity for caretaking has translated into the present-day, too, as when we see her in 2021, she is working with an elderly patient.
But there’s a dark side to Misty — one we see when she withholds pain medicine after the patient disrespects her. One that first makes itself apparent when she breaks the plane’s distress signal so the team stays stranded and dependent on her.
