The Big Leap season 1 episode 10 recap: Can Reggie win Gabby back?
Gabby is feeling hopeless, even going back to her office job. Justin, however, convinces her to fight for what she wants and take her rightful place on the show. She reluctantly does but questions some of the plot points of the ballet — like the end where her character jumps off a cliff.
Monica surprisingly agrees, asking Gabby to help her with new choreography for the show’s ending. With Justin’s urging, Gabby demands an assistant choreography credit and compensation, which Monica agrees to give her. Gabby’s ideas end up being great, as she suggests everyone have a section where they show off the dance style they’re best at and have her character save herself with self-love at the end.
Meanwhile, Reggie is struggling to win Gabby back. He’s still furious at the producers for showing her footage of him with his ex out of context. During his football press conference, people can’t stop asking about their relationship and accusing Reggie of giving up. This spurs him to action, and he and the producers race to drive back to Chicago so he can make a grand gesture and dance in the show, showing that he cares about Gabby.
The Big Leap season 1 episode 10 recap: Will Julia get back together with her husband?
Reggie isn’t the only one trying to win someone back. Julia’s husband Kevin is also trying to prove himself to her, even putting up Christmas lights while she’s sneaking Linus out of the house. Julia, however, is not having it, saying him being back is confusing for the girls — particularly Olivia.
Olivia gets in trouble at school for vandalizing a building to protest the sexist dress code, and the family bonds while painting over it. Kevin admits he wasn’t happy and went about trying to fix things in the wrong way. He apologizes for what he did and tells Julia to go to rehearsal while he finishes the task with the girls — a step that impresses Julia.
The Big Leap season 1 episode 10 recap: What do Brittney and Simon’s futures hold?
Simon is nervous about making it work with Justin once he goes to Paris, and Brittney advises him to break up with him before Justin can do it himself. Simon does just that — right before the show — which throws Justin off.
Brittney and Simon’s mom is also back, trying to convince Brittney to do a dating show with her in Orlando. Brittney finally gets the courage to stand up to her, saying the show is beneath her, which makes her mother feel hurt and humiliated. Her mother says she won’t be attending the show the next day and won’t try and protect Brittney anymore. This is an especially bad time to have a fallout with her mom considering Brittney finds out she’s pregnant.
The Big Leap season 1 episode 10 recap: How will the show pay tribute to Paula?
Mike and Paula get the chance to enjoy one last Christmas season together before she passes away. Mike is, understandably, heartbroken, but his friends rally around him and convince him to finish the show. Luckily, Paula anticipated this situation and recorded videos for every situation he would have to encounter, encouraging and cheering him on.
Nick is facing logistical problems with Paula’s absence. Though the crew wants to commemorate her, Nick is reluctant, saying people tune in to be uplifted, not depressed. The network is also putting pressure on him to do an elimination in the finale, saying the future of his career hinges on it.
Feeling overwhelmed, Nick has a panic attack, from which Monica calms him down. She says he’s grieving and needs to deal with the trauma of Paula’s death. He can use this as an opportunity to make something beautiful — not the same trash he’s been churning out.
This inspires Nick to threaten to walk out if the network forces an elimination, and the entire cast follows suit. He gets the idea to have the kids Paula used to volunteer with involved in the show and dedicate the performance to Paula. However, even with Monica and his daughter’s reassurance, Nick finds himself facing his biggest challenge yet when the power goes out 10 minutes until curtain.
