This week on The Big Leap season 1 finale, blackouts, trap doors, and pressure from the network all threaten to ruin the big day. Meanwhile, some relationships are repaired — while others are thrown into jeopardy.
Read on to learn what happened in The Big Leap season 1 episode 11, “We Make Our Own Light.”
The Big Leap season 1 episode 11 recap: Do Nick and Monica end up together?
The episode starts with chaos, as the blackout is going to make it impossible to put on a show. Luckily, dancer Aja is an electrician, and she and Mike manage to fix the power. Nick, however, is still highly stressed — especially when Zach delivers the news that the network wants to continue adding twists to get the numbers up. He calms down a little when Monica reassures and kisses him.
Moved by the show, Nick asks Monica to come with him to a cottage he’s renting. While she promises to think about it, later, Nick overhears her saying how she’ll never agree to go since Nick is nothing more than a sleazy producer. Hurt, Nick stops listening to the conversation, missing the part where Wayne tells her she’s just scared and in love.
Monica takes these words to heart and, after having to go on and dance with the House of Lush last minute, goes to tell Nick she’ll accept his invitation. But before she can, Nick ends up rescinding it, saying them being alone together that long wouldn’t be a good idea. They both end the night heartbroken.
The Big Leap season 1 episode 11 recap: Is Brittney pregnant? And do Justin and Simon reconnect?
Brittney and Simon volunteer to go get flashlights from the drugstore so she can also buy a pregnancy test — a test that turns out to be positive. The other big bomb? It’s definitely Reggie’s.
People harass Brittney when she comes onstage, angry she ruined Gabby and Reggie’s relationship. Things go from bad to worse when she comes offstage and falls into a trapdoor. Justin falls into the trapdoor soon after her, and the two manage to bond. Brittney laments that she’s a loser who not even her mom likes, but Justin says he can see the pockets of humanity in her. She also tells him she was behind Simon breaking up with him because she didn’t want to see her brother get hurt.
When they finally make it out of the trapdoor, Justin pleads with Simon to give their relationship another chance. He loves him — and he has loved him ever since the roof in Chicago. They kiss, and Justin’s dad and brother are supportive.
But all doesn’t end well for Brittney. Nick finds the receipt that lists the pregnancy test and tries to coax her into using it for season two drama. Brittney is reluctant to be the villain again but doesn’t see another path for herself.
The Big Leap season 1 episode 11 recap: Will Gabby and Reggie end up together?
Everyone cheers for Gabby when she comes onstage, but things quickly fall apart when she sees Reggie in the wings and is so shocked she trips. He explains he was trying to apologize via a grand gesture, but she tells him he’s only making things harder and to go watch from a monitor somewhere else. Though Zach and Nick want him to try again, Reggie says he’s going to respect her wishes.
Gabby reminisces about her big moment of self-love in the ballet, saying that this show gave her the power to do that. It also made her realize you need to surround yourself with good people and that those you care about deserve a second chance. Since Justin is still in the trap door at this point, Reggie subs in for the role of the prince. Since he doesn’t know the dance, he makes a speech instead about how he found his second chance with her and loves her. She’s torn but ultimately agrees to have coffee with him. Later, the two of them kiss backstage and Nick even offers Gabby the chance to be a choreographer next season.
The Big Leap season 1 episode 11 recap: Who will Julia choose?
Julia is still being pulled in two different directions: one by her husband Kevin and one by Linus. Things reach a boiling point when the two of them get into a physical altercation in her dressing room after a mixup with flowers. Julia finally tells Kevin it’s over between them but that they’ll always love each other in their own way.
After the show, Julia announces she’s going to spend more time with her daughters, planning to take them to Tokyo. She invites Raven to come along with them, too, saying she’s so proud of her despite her mom not showing up to support her in the show.
Mike may find himself traveling as well. After watching some clips of him and Paula and beautifully dancing with some of the children Paula used to volunteer with, Mike gets a letter that Paula wrote. It turns out, she left him everything, amounting to millions of dollars.
