Which Succession character are you based on your enneagram type?
By Taylor Gates
Succession is one of the hottest shows right now — and for good reason. The writing is impeccable, the acting is brilliant, and the combination of drama and comedy makes for countless chances for analyses and memes alike. It’s hard not to love (and love to hate) the Roy family and their inner circle.
Several sources have already broken down each character by their zodiac sign and Myers-Brigg personality types, but what about their enneagrams? If you don’t already know yours, take this quiz to find out, and then come back and see who you can relate to most. (Well, maybe minus the being super-rich part, unfortunately.)
Type 1 on Succession: Kendall Roy
Type 1 is known as The Reformer, with a primary attribute being perfectionism. The most basic and strong desire of a type 1 is to keep their integrity while improving the world around them. Kendall’s desire to revolutionize the company and adamance about keeping his moral compass intact while doing so makes him a textbook one. Those at their unhealthiest can often experience depression and nervous breakdowns — things we’ve unfortunately had to see Kendall deal with a lot.
Type 2 on Succession: Tom Wambsgans
Type 2s are often called The Helpers, which definitely fits with Tom’s character. Qualities of this type include people-pleasing and being possessive, two things Tom has in spades. (The former with the Roys; the latter with Greg.) Type 2s are driven by a desire to feel loved, which you can see on striking display throughout his rocky relationship with Shiv. Speaking of Shiv…
Type 3 on Succession: Shiv Roy
Type 3: The Achiever — something Shiv is always trying desperately to be, first during her run in politics and later when vying for the top Waystar-Royco position. Type 3s are highly driven and image-conscious, and although this is true for the majority of the characters just by the nature of the industry they’re in, it’s particularly evident in nearly every move Shiv makes. The biggest fears of this type include feeling worthless and invaluable — one more reason Logan’s approval and trust in Shiv is so crucial to her.
Type 4 on Succession: Willa Ferreyra
Individualism and creativity are both close to a Type 4’s heart, which is why this one obviously goes to artistic Willa. In addition to wanting to leave their mark on the world, people of this type can often be sensitive and dramatic, which is very true for her character. (Remember her snapping at Frank on the boat when he innocently asked her how her play was going?)
Type 5 on Succession: Gerri Kellman
Type 5s are the investigators, which means there’s always watching — often without anyone realizing. Gerri has eyes everywhere, making her the perfect embodiment of this type. Type 5s can be both perceptive and secretive, which can be both a blessing and a curse. Isolation and loneliness can often plague these people.
Type 6 on Succession: Greg Hirsch
The Loyalist. Could there be a more fitting title for Greg, Tom’s right-hand man? Sure, he’s strayed occasionally, but he’s loyal to the core, often seeking the security and support that come with that. On the flip side, Type 6s can be anxious and suspicious as well, two qualities that definitely came out during the season 2 finale when he had to testify. (But hey, you know what they say: you can’t make a Tomlette without breaking some Greggs.)
Type 7 on Succession: Roman Roy
Roman Roy is a classic Type 7. They’re often called The Enthusiast, after all — known for their spontaneous, extroverted nature. Type 7s are the life of the party, and there’s no denying Roman is. On the other hand, though, they can be scattered and erratic, often trying to run away from their problems. Let’s face it: he’s done that more than a few times. (Remember the rocket launch explosion he tried to completely ignore?)
Type 8 on Succession: Logan Roy
Type 8 is known as The Challenger — something Logan has never once been afraid to be. Equal parts confident and confrontational, Logan is a natural leader, with a demanding presence and the ability to get things done. At their best, these people are strong and assertive. At their worst, they can become power-hungry, domineering, and downright cruel. (Sound familiar? Yeah. We thought so, too.)
Type 9 on Succession: Connor Roy
Type 9s are known as The Peacemaker, which is a role we’ve seen Connor attempt to step into time and time again. As the oldest sibling, he’s often trying to stop drama rather than start it. Though his complacency can make everything run more smoothly at times, there’s an element of delusion and a tendency to minimize problems that can plague him, too.
