Yellowjackets season 1 episode 6 recap: Will Shauna keep the baby?

This week on Yellowjackets season 1, the gang reunites in the present-day — minus Misty, that is. Shauna has an uncomfortable brunch with Jackie’s family, and Tai and her wife continue having tension about their son.

Yellowjackets season 1 episode 6 recap: Did Shauna have an abortion?

In the wilderness, some of the team makes fun of Lottie for being able to talk to ghosts. We learn that she’s always had these powers, screaming in her parents’ car moments before a wreck unfolded in front of them. Lottie continues having visions of animals covered with blood and even Tai eating dirt outside one night.

Scared, she tells Laura Lee about these experiences. Laura Lee believes this is God’s way of communicating with her, though whether it’s a revelation or warning, she’s not sure. She encourages her to let him into her heart so she knows the truth and baptizes her in the water. There, Lottie sees a light, which Laura Lee believes is the holy spirit.

Van and Tai, meanwhile, are still having a fling and flirting with each other, though Tai wants to keep it on the down-low so there’s no drama. Van thinks everyone will find out eventually, but Tai wants to go search for help before that can happen.

She gets even more adamant about this plan when Shauna confides in her that she wants to try to perform an abortion so Jackie never finds out the baby is Jeff’s. Though Tai encourages her to wait, once it becomes clear Shauna is going to go through with it, Tai vows to help her. However, Shauna ultimately can’t do it, breaking down crying and saying she wants to die.

Ironically enough, Coach Ben also cautions Travis against getting Natalie pregnant when he gets word the two of them have been sneaking around and having sex, even giving him condoms so they’ll be safe.

Natalie and Travis have a sweet conversation where Travis admits Natalie is the first girl he’s ever been with. Though initially defensive and worried Travis thinks she’s a slut, Natalie softens when she hears this, admitting she’s only had two partners. The two eventually find an animal to hunt, but it turns out to be full of maggots and completely inedible.

Shauna and Jeff attend an awkward brunch with Jackie’s parents, which includes them giving Shauna an odd rabbit figurine and Shauna turning down their offer to help their daughter Callie with college. Jackie’s parents also say they’re glad Shauna and Jeff got together since they’re a much better match than he and Jackie were. The two of them are content and don’t want more like Jackie always did.

Shauna goes to Jackie’s old room, where the ghost of Jackie appears and says her death was her fault. However, though it hurt, they were both just kids. Shauna is clearly a bit shaken by this, and it’s only made worse when she goes back to have dessert with the parents and they start talking about how it must have been difficult to have been friends with someone so beautiful and bright.

Jeff jumps in to defend Shauna, saying she’s brilliant. He also drops the bomb that the two of them slept together while he was still seeing Jackie. After the brunch, Jeff tells Shauna that he has no regrets about their relationship despite the way it started. That night, however, they’re back to being a bit strained, as Jeff goes back to the store and Shauna keeps getting texts from Adam.

Tai and Simone are having tension after Tai’s press conference debacle. She tries to defend herself, saying she was planning to drop out before she remembered who it was all for: her and Sammy.

Simone drags Tai along to a child psychologist for Sammy, who says he’s having some memory loss. He truly believes he’s telling the truth about the vandalism and lady in the tree. Tai, however, is skeptical. Simone is irritated with her for answering a call during the session and not taking the situation with Sammy seriously, and it all builds to Tai almost accidentally hitting a guy on a bike with the car.

Shauna meets up with Natalie and Tai, who all debate what to do with the Travis photos and blackmail postcards they all got. Natalie wants to call Jessica, the reporter, but they ultimately decide against it — if she’s not behind it, they will have been handing her free info for nothing. They agree on leaving Misty out, too, thinking she may be involved somehow.

They instead decide to put a GPS tracker in the $50,000 cash they need to get. Tai can’t get it due to her marital issues, so Natalie sells her car to pay for it. Kevin picks her up from the lot and takes her to his son’s soccer game, which she enjoys before beginning to feel overwhelmed.

This leads to the two of them having sex, which Misty sees through her hidden camera. She calls up Jessica, telling her their plan isn’t working and that she needs to meet her at her car. There, she drugs her and handcuffs her to a bed in her basement. The end of the episode sees Natalie getting a text about dropping off the money and her telling Tai it’s go time.
