This is Us season 6: Showrunner promises conclusions (not necessarily happy ones…)

The most common issue with every final season and series finale is leaving too many stories open or inconclusive. While a show that is psychological and existential like Hannibal or The Good Place might succeed in leaving things ambiguous, This is Us is not one of those shows. The show’s creator and showrunner, Dan Fogelman, has made the ultimate promise that This is Us season 6 will have conclusions and answers to all of the series’ story arcs and the audience’s questions. Fogelman shared with Deadline;

"“I think that we’re going to try and make something really beautiful that leaves people feeling full and warm, [something that taps into] the melancholy beauty that fills our lives…[something that will] make people want to have baby or call their parents. I think that’s always how we intended to end the show. We’re going to try to pull off something really lovely.”"

This type of writing style is what made This is Us such a big hit from the beginning when the pilot tricked audiences into falling in love with a multi-generational family without them realizing the relationships between Jack, Rebecca, Kevin, Kate, and Randall. But now, the work over this half-decade that Dan Fogelman and his team of writers, directors, producers, and the rest of the crew is something they all should be proud of.
