Yellowjackets season 1 episode 7 recap: Is Van dead?
Tai is still worried about their chances of survival if they stay where they are and wants to head south. She knows if there’s nothing out there, she’ll die, but she has to try anyway. She cuts her hair to prepare, and Van, Misty, and a few other girls rally around her and decide to join the expedition.
Lottie has an ominous dream about red smoke and a river of blood, giving Van a good luck charm before she goes to keep her safe. This causes conflict between Van and Tai, who is skeptical about the charm. Things get even tenser when, after some time walking south, the group’s compass begins to go haywire and they see a red river — just like the one in Lottie’s dream.
Though some of the group gets nervous that Lottie’s dream was an ominous foreshadowing, Tai tells them they’re all being crazy. Van is agitated that Tai doesn’t seem to be taking the signs seriously, and the two argue. Unfortunately, later that night, their camp gets attacked by a pack of wolves, and they have to fight them off with fire sticks. Though Tai attempts to save Van with her flare gun and an ax, it doesn’t seem like she made it.
Though Travis is originally going to go with the group, Natalie tells him she selfishly doesn’t want him to go, and he stays. The two of them attempt to have sex, but it all gets very awkward very fast. Travis is uncomfortable with Natalie’s dirty talk and then can’t get an erection, and he ends up leaving, embarrassed.
Jackie knows something’s going on with Shauna, demanding to know what she’s hiding. Shauna admits to her she’s pregnant but lies and says it’s Randy’s baby. Jackie is taken aback that she didn’t tell her about losing her virginity but eventually hugs her, saying they’ll get through it together.
Later, Jackie asks Shauna how the sex was, and Shauna admits it wasn’t great — especially because they were drunk. Jackie gets a bit suspicious about the date Shauna said it happened, as she thought she drove Randy home from a party early that night. Later, Jackie finds Shauna’s journal and sobs reading it, figuring out the truth.
Yellowjackets season 1 episode 7 recap: Who’s behind the blackmail?
In the present day, Natalie texts everyone to hurry up and meet her so they can drop the money, but Tai first has to scramble to wash blood and dirt from her hands, scrambling to bandage it. When they all meet up, they fill the money bag with a bunch of random stuff so it will take longer for the person to find the tracker they’re planting in it.
Since Natalie got the money, she is adamant that she gets to be the one to make the drop in Tai’s Range Rover. While Tai and Shauna are waiting for her to return, Tai mentions to Shauna that she paid for Natalie’s rehab. Though Shauna thinks they need to let her figure out and handle her own stuff, Tai reminds her Natalie doesn’t have anyone but them and that they wouldn’t even be alive if not for her.
Natalie finally returns with a bottle of alcohol she bought off a gas station clerk in tow, and the three of them drink and look at the GPS for the tracker. After an hour and a half, it begins moving, and they chase down the guy through a warehouse full of pool noodles and glitter. The man eventually makes it out and hops in his car, and although Natalie nearly shoots it, Tai stops her before she can. The blackmailer throws the GPS out of the bag, and they lose track of him.
Though Natalie is happy they at least know the blackmailer is a man, Shauna reminds them he could just be working for someone — including the reporter. Natalie is adamant they find out the truth regardless for Travis’ sake. They point out Travis’ death might not be related to this, which angers Natalie, as she knows Travis didn’t kill himself. If they won’t help her, she says she’ll figure it out herself, crying and getting out of the car.
Natalie goes to sleep with Kevin again, lying about taking his gun to go to a park and accidentally shooting it while she was drinking instead of bringing it along to their stakeout. Kevin freaks out, saying every round has to be accounted for, not believing her when she says she wasn’t high when it happened or that she hasn’t committed a crime. Hurt, Natalie tells him this was just sex to her and their relationship was never real. Her high school crush on her was cute, but now it’s just pathetic.
When Shauna gets home, Adam is waiting for her outside her house. Though she’s initially angry, as her daughter or husband could have seen, when he tells her he wants clarity about their relationship and says their chemistry is undeniable, they start making out. She leads him into the house, and they fall asleep in bed together. When she wakes up, she panics, telling him to hide in the closet since Jeff has just come home. Jeff comes in and almost opens the closet door, but she distracts him long enough for him to leave the bedroom so Adam can escape unnoticed.
Yellowjackets season 1 episode 7 recap: What does Jessica know about Travis?
Misty still has Jessica in her basement, telling her she’s simply protecting her friends and that all roads lead to her. She thinks she killed Travis, too. Jessica, however, is oddly calm, saying this isn’t the first time she’s been held hostage and revealing that Tai was the one who hired her to see if anyone would talk.
Jessica goes on to say that she knows Travis was murdered, vowing to tell her everything she knows if Misty lets her go. Mistry refuses, saying she doesn’t have any leverage because she’ll force Jessica to talk. One such method is injecting fentanyl into chocolate and telling Jessica she plans to get them to her father in a retirement home.
At this, Jessica breaks, admitting she was at Travis’ house before he was killed. But even with a nice bottle of whiskey, he wouldn’t talk. She also reveals that Travis’ bank account was closed right after he died, meaning that someone other than him emptied the account. Whoever has that money probably killed Travis.
