Is Yellowjackets a limited series? Will there be a Yellowjackets season 2?
By Taylor Gates
Yellowjackets is by far one of the best shows to recently premiere. With expert casting, bold writing, and a compelling mystery, we’re constantly counting down the days until a new episode drops.
After episode 8 premiered yesterday, you might have seen the promo for episode 9 saying there were just two more episodes left. You may be asking yourself: does that mean the end of the show for good? Or is there hope for more seasons?
Read on to learn whether Yellowjackets is a limited series or a longer story.
Is Yellowjackets a limited series?
There have been some truly excellent limited series lately, from WandaVision to Mare of Easttown. Miniseries can be amazing for short binges but can also leave us wanting more.
Lucky for us, we won’t have that problem with Yellowjackets, as it’s not a limited series! Considering its subject matter, it would likely lend itself well to a limited series format, but rest assured, the writers have plenty more tricks and twists up their sleeves to sustain the show for more installments to come.
Will there be a Yellowjackets season 2?
More good news: Yellowjackets has already been renewed for a season 2! The show has gotten so much amazing buzz — even landing a rare, coveted 100% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes — that Showtime renewed the series in mid-December for another season.
When will season 2 premiere?
There’s no word on when season 2 will premiere yet, but since it will need to be written, filmed, and edited, it will likely be several months until it will be able to air — made even more complicated by the pandemic. Considering season 1 began airing in November 2021, it’s possible that the next installment may drop in November of this year. (Or perhaps a little earlier — it’s a spooky show, so it airing during spooky season would make sense.)
