Yellowjackets season 1 episode 8 recap: Does Laura Lee successfully fly the plane?

Though Van is thankfully still alive after the wolf attack, she’s in bad shape. She wants the others to leave her and go back to camp, but Tai refuses, staying with her while the rest of the group goes ahead. With some help, they eventually get Van back to the cabin and stitch her up. Tai is wracked with guilt, telling Shauna she feels responsible for her injury.

Laura Lee decides she needs to try and fly the plane to get them help — she’s been studying the manual and flew with her grandpa a few times. Jackie drops the bomb that Van isn’t the only one who needs medical attention, putting Shauna on the spot to tell everyone about the pregnancy. Though Coach Ben forbids Laura Lee from flying, she refuses to listen. Though she does get the plane off the ground, the teddy bear in the seat next to her catches on fire when she gets over the lake, and the plane explodes.

Yellowjackets season 1 episode 8 recap: What’s going on with Travis and Natalie?

Things are still weird between Travis and Natalie after their awkward sexual encounter. Natalie confides in Ben about this, wondering if he thinks Travis might be gay like him. Ben is caught off guard that she knows this about him but eventually opens up about his boyfriend Paul. He tells her Travis is likely just nervous — he clearly likes her. Natalie promises not to tell the others about his sexuality.

While Natalie talks to Ben, Travis chats with Jackie, lamenting that he messed everything up. Jackie comforts him, saying he’s a lot better than most guys Natalie dates, like the dirtbag Bobby, for example. The revelation makes Travis furious, as Bobby is the one who gave him his hated nickname.

Travis confronts Natalie, and she tells him she only lied because she knew he’d hate her if he knew the truth. She apologizes for making a mistake but he says he made a mistake with her, too. Hurt, she says it’s good he couldn’t get it up because this ending would be harder had they actually had sex. Natalie is angry at Jackie for telling him about her past.

Yellowjackets season 1 episode 8 recap: How is Adam connected to everything?

In the present day, Callie confronts Shauna about Adam after finding his license in the living room. She’s furious Shauna brought him to the house, but Shauna reminds her that Jeff is no innocent angel either. Callie tells her to be careful, as she can’t find any record of Adam online and is worried he has ulterior motives.

Shauna tries to brush this off, but she does some digging of her own and finds out he was lying about attending art school. When she asks him about it, he tells her it was just a stupid lie he said to impress her but that it’s the only thing he wasn’t truthful about. He wants to go on a weekend getaway so they can get to know each other better. When Shauna is getting her bag from the closet, she spies glitter on the floor and realizes her safe is empty. Panicked, she goes back to Adam’s house, asking who he really is.

Tai is also having relationship issues, confiding in Shauna about how she’s scared of the person she’s becoming — Sammy calls her the “bad one,” she might have let their beloved dog outside by accident, and she’s afraid to even go to sleep and lose control.

Shauna lets her sleep over, and the two chat about what life would have been like had the plane never crashed. Though Tai actually accomplished everything she set out to achieve before the crash, none of it really felt real. When Tai goes home the next day, she tells Simone everything and says that she Sammy need to go away for a while, as she’s afraid she’s going to hurt them.

Yellowjackets season 1 episode 8 recap: Will Misty let Jessica go?

Misty sees Natalie getting drugs via the secret camera and goes to stop her, even snorting several lines of coke off her bed before she can. Natalie is livid, but Misty tells her she can’t watch her destroy her life. This makes Natalie suspicious, and she finds and breaks the hidden camera Misty has been using to spy on her. Misty defends herself, saying she’s been working tirelessly to solve the Travis case and telling her about someone closing his bank account, but Natalie is adamant she can’t trust her.

Natalie calls the bank to try to get information about the person who closed the account, screaming and destroying the room when they say they can’t help her since she isn’t family. She finds some coke on the floor and snorts it before going to talk to an old AA sponsor who works at the bank. She threatens to tell her job about the fact the two of them used to sell customers’ personal information to identity thieves unless she looks into Travis’ account for her.

Meanwhile, at Misty’s house, Jessica attempts to make Misty let her go by threatening to kill her bird if she doesn’t. But before she can, Misty throws things at Jessica, forcing her to let the bird fly free. Misty breaks down crying, telling Jessica it’s been a hard day. She frees her and says she’s going to make them both some food.
