When does Elle Fanning’s The Girl from Plainville premiere on Hulu?
By Taylor Gates
Elle Fanning is quickly becoming the queen of Hulu. Just a few weeks after it was announced that The Great would be returning for season 3, new information dropped about the miniseries she will star in: The Girl from Plainville.
Read on to learn what the show will be about, who else is in the cast, and when you can expect it to premiere.
What is The Girl from Plainville about?
The Girl from Plainville is based on the true-crime story of Michelle Carter, who drove her boyfriend Conrad Roy III to commit suicide over text. The story was covered extensively in a 2017 Esquire article as well as the HBO documentary I Love You, Now Die.
Who stars in The Girl from Plainville?
In addition to Elle Fanning, who will star as Michelle Carter, Colton Ryan (Dear Evan Hansen) will play Conrad, Chloë Sevigny (Boys Don’t Cry, Big Love) will play Conrad’s mother, and Norbert Leo Butz (best known for his work on Broadway) will play his father.
The show was written by Liz Hannah, who is known for her work on the series Mindhunter and the films The Post and Long Shot, and Patrick Macmanus, who’s served as a writer and executive producer for Dr. Death and Happy!
How many episodes will there be?
The show will be a limited series consisting of eight episodes. Though some shows that began as a miniseries were extended into multiple seasons after the fact (see: Big Little Lies), it’s unlikely this will be one of them due to being based on a real event.
When will The Girl from Plainville premiere?
Though there’s no specific release date yet, the show is set to premiere on Hulu sometime this spring. We can likely expect a trailer soon!
